Albion v Ferriby

Agree with most of what has been posted already and its great we got a result when to be honest we did not play well in the second half. Great hat trick from Adam who for me is now the complete Centre forward and a nice lad to boot. I actually spoke to him for the first time in the club after the match. I agree with Picko who highlighted that we lost it in midfield too often and the service through to the forwards was not really great in the second half and it was this that put the defence under a lot of pressure. The new lad Neil Wood came on and did a great job for me as he tried to calm things down and play the simple ball. We really need to get it together if we are to get a result at Worksop and Sanasay is going to be a big threat so we need to get someone marking him (Ian Kearney??). I thought Ian was great on Saturday because we had to move him to full back when Tom came on and he never put a foot wrong for me in either position. Just need to be careful and play it simple especially when the grounds are really wet and if we are defending and your in two minds belt it out as far upfield as you can get it. I thought we got caught a little bit Saturday but to be fair Ferriby had some quick lads on view and will cause others problems. We are a great team but lets just guard against being complacent I know all our lads will give 100% and Jim and Nige are doing a great job we will go up as champions this time!! Lets keep it going and lets make more noise of the right kind to urge them on!!

Sanasay should be suspended on Saturday (1st of 3 games) for being sent off on 24.11.07.

Don’t you just love an accurate match report…

North Ferriby United manager Neil Allison was enraged at the end of this game having seen his side denied a last gasp penalty.
Had it been given then Ferriby would have gained a valuable point in the quest to get free themselves from the relegation battle.
Ferriby could and should have got something from this game and when Alex Davidson was brought down the spot kick should have been given.
It was a performance from Allison’s side which was superb in every sense of the word. Witton Albion may be top of the table but they were made to look very ordinary by Ferriby.
It took three wonder strikes in the first half for Witton to hold the advantage over the visitors. But Allison was not a happy man when asked about the incident which was to cost his side.
“I was enraged at the end as it should have been a penalty and it would have been a well deserved point for us,” said Allison.
“I know this was by far our best performance of the season bearing in mind the wet condition. But for the position we are in, the position they’re in I thought the lads again showed they are not a bottom five side.
“I also don’t think they did anything to show they were a top five side but people may say it was a Witton off day. I spoke to my assistant John Anderson and he agreed it was far from this.
“We both agreed our lads played really well as we gave everything out there in the creativity, passion and commitment. They won the majority of the challenges but things just didn’t run for us.
“3-1 down at half-time could quite easily have been 3-3 but to be fair they scored three fantastic goals. Any striker will tell you they were great finishes and I can’t disagree.
“The only negative for us is we didn’t close them down and the lads know this. I told them at half-time the next goal was vital and thankfully it was us who got it.
“For me I then thought we could have gone on and won the game as anyone there will tell you. We should have had at least a point but we didn’t get the break at the end which is sad for all concerned.”
Witton through hat-trick striker Adam Warlow scored first on 11 minutes when he headed home at the far post. It came from a pinpoint cross by Mark Peers which beat the Ferriby defence.
This was how it stayed until the 39th minute when Warlow, on loan from Crewe Alexandra, turned Paul Foot to rifle home from the edge of the box, the striker then hit a third this time with his left foot.
In between time Ferriby pulled a goal back from Gary Bradshaw on 40 minutes. A free kick from Antoni Pecora went straight down the middle for the strker to lob the ball over Jon Kennedy.
Then with just a minute of the second half gone the ball went down the right for David Cooke to send in a pinpoint cross. The lethal Bradshaw got on the end to slot the ball home for 3-2.
Ferriby then totally dominated the second period with Witton on the back foot for the remainder. Bradshaw, twice and substitute Davidson both forced Kennedy into action.
Then in the final minute of normal time Davidson was through on goal only to be taken down by Ian Kearney. Appeals for a penalty were waved away before Witton went down the other end for Rob Thornley to score.

We’re obviously not good enough and Ferriby should take our place at the top of the table… :o

Priceless…

So we’re not that good - despite:

"three wonder strikes in the first half"
"They won the majority of the challenges"
"but to be fair they scored three fantastic goals. Any striker will tell you they were great finishes and I can’t disagree"

So, we’re not that bad then eh, Mr Allison?

Well did we deserve that? Yes I think we did, for all Ferribys efforts and to be fair several chances we scored 4 quality goals and were denied a few others - thornley and macca and Warlows early chance spring to mind for 3?

That is the difference like the Ossett game to the teams we have had in the past when we have made higher placed teams look ordinary but we have not had enough to either score the goals or defend well enough. At present we are doing enough to win and the points return is not a fluke (take note Ferriby’s manager!)

I can see their point but lets get the facts straight!

correct neil we did enough to earn 3points.

on another point of the game, when rod scored is goal, i thought how lucky he was that ferribys no5 didnt make contact with him, no need for that type of tackle in non-league or any league. >:(

Delusions of grandeur Mr Allison. Yes your lads did well and they are not a bottom 5 team. Where your wrong is that we are not top of the league because its a flook. Its because we are a good side with QUALITY in the team. Your lads at the back lack this which allowed us to score 4 goals from our two QUALITY strikers. To be fair you have some quick lads in your team who you play to well and Bradshaw up front is quality but your kidding yourself if you think you are the finished article based on one match against us. I’m sure you’ll do well against us at your place and the only axe I have to grind is you think we are not a top 5 side and your bleating about a non exsistent penalty. How the hell do you think we feel when the week before we scored a perfectly good goal that was disallowed. But for that we would be 3k better off and playing Tamworth in the next round. Thats football for you so stop bleating and accept the defeat. I’m sure you will go up the league as your lads played well but your not quite championship material yet when you get 4 goals put past you!! As for our boys come on lets not get complacent roll up our sleeves and lets go again for another 3 points Saturday!!

Anyone who sacks Neil Parsley deserves all the bad luck thats coming their way! That applies to Guiseley as well.

I can’t believe any manager whose side concedes 4 goals can even contemplate that they should have won a football match!

Great result to bounce back from the Hucknall games.

I’ve just watched the goals again and i agree, 100% uncalled for.
