Full Time Score from J Davidson Stadium:

Altrincham 3 Witton Albion 4.

Result of the season. Well done everyone.

What a fabulous result, been sat in the last few days with a bad bout of flu but that has made me feel so much better thanks lads UTA

excellent display in atrocious conditions. Our work ethic was incredible & the team richly deserved the victory. At 1-0 down you thought it could be a bad start to the New Year but Witton stuck to their game plan & deservedly went in at half-time in the lead.
They equalised and went ahead with a bit of a soft goal tbh but with the move of the match Tom Owens scored his second.
As Wheels said above “Will Jones scored a screamer” with a volley from 20 yards which started the party amongst the Albion faithful.

MOM - all of them, great effort after two tough games over the Xmas period & special mention to the match officials who refereed the game very well & kept it going.
It was a great afternoon out & I’m pleased for all the Wittoners present. We’re still unbeaten in 2018.

7 points from 12 over the festive period.

Not exactly the way I envisaged it but a great return.

Great result, I was fearing another FC United abandoned job at one point. Great support from the travelling army, keep singing boys and girls!

Thought Witton were excellent today. Despite going a goal down early on, they showed they were up for it. Winning good majority of 50/50 balls and working hard.
Don’t think Alty selected the right tactics today and it cost them. Trying to play balls round the back and long balls to their wide men on both flanks was not going to work on a pitch so wet.
If they had gone a little more direct they might have given us more problems.
Super finishes from Witton and great work rate.
For me Prince was my man of the match !!

The goals from today’s game are now available on the Alty TV channel via the Altrincham Facebook page.

I don’t go to many away games but goodness me I’m glad I went today!! That both teams put on a game like that in those atrocious conditions and with the absolute quagmire at the covered end was a credit to all (I really thought it could have been abandoned). We were superb, immense, brilliant and deserved the win every player to a man was man of the match for me. A crowd of over a thousand and plenty of Wittoners in fine voice made it a very special away trip indeed!! COME ON THE ALBIOOON!!

Brilliant result, but no more than this team deserve. They put everything into the game and just do not stop running and always believe they can get something from the game. Congratulations to players and management. Surely results like this can only encourage the missing fans to make a return. What a team. UTA

A couple of interesting articles off the Alty forum. Pretty accurate depiction of the game except that the conditions were a “leveller” which I can’t understand. We all know the type of pitch we would prefer to play on and the type of surface that suits our style, It was just we adapted to the conditions better than them.

A great performance from all - management, team and fans!

For all the stay-away fans, get off your sofas and get back down to supporting our team. Onwards and upwards! UTA!

So sad I missed such an epic game which will be remembered for years to come. I had a bad stomach, so bad that I dare not make the journey. I am most pleased for our management team, who I believe came in for unfair criticism for our previous came when they tried to manage an over large injury list. Well done the players and our management team!!!

Very good highlights on YouTube under AltyTV. Shows how well we played, particularly going forward.

Have managed to see the goals from the game. Tom Owens first was excellent, the way he changed direction before shooting was brilliant. Will Jones volley, a goal to win any goame and his celebration with the fans at the final whistle shows the bond between the players and fans at our club.
