Dabbers’ Donnelly is Brownhill’s replacement
By Andrew Simpson

NIGEL Deeley has raided Nantwich Town for Liam Brownhill’s replacement.

Dabbers defender Paul Donnelly has become the new Albion manager’s third addition of the summer.

“He’s another good acquisition for us,” said Deeley.

“Paul has played for Port Vale in the Football League so certainly has pedigree and I’m delighted to have him on board.”

The 27-year-old full back signed for Nantwich from Stone Dominoes three seasons ago and has been a regular in their team since.

Dabbers manager Steve Davis had offered him a new deal, but instead Donnelly has chosen to make the move across Cheshire.

“I am very disappointed at Paul’s decision,” Davis told the club’s official website.

"He is a great lad who I have a lot of time for and I had hoped he would stay and continue to fight for his place.

“However he has made up his mind to leave and I wish him the very best.”

Donnelly joins Scott Willis and Greg Smith as Deeley’s first signings as he bids to rebuild a squad decimated by departures since the end of last season.

Jon Kennedy, Steve Brodie, Rob Lloyd, Dave MacPherson, Mark Peers and Adam Warlow have left already, with Alex Brown and Liam Brownhill expected to follow in the coming days.
