Building for next season

So with things a lot more stable off the pitch, where does everyone think we need to strenghen for next year? Who do you think will be moving on? Which players you watched playing against us last season would you like to see playing for us next season?

Personally two centre halves and two strikers seems to be the priority, although when we spoke to Jim, he seemed to have irons in the fire for both positions.

Also, if we could keep Junior Brown that would be a big bonus.

I agree Greenie.

I think we are OK with the goalie, and I noticed Craig made a come back for the reserves, who with his performance at Colwyn Bay, I am sure is adequate cover.

No problems at full back with Cavin, and Liam, with Kearney providing cover.

Possible problems at centre half as Pritch and Tony are not getting any younger. Admittedly, Kearns can also provide cover here, but this area does require further cover, or even strengthening.

We have adequate flair in midfield, with Peersy, Alex, Macca, Brody, Rob and it would be nice to include Junior. However, towards the end of the season, Rob Lloyd did not look happy in not being a regular first team choice. He also did not seem as effective, as I think other teams had done their homework, and had sussed him out with his double turn backs, and were starting to catch him in possesion. I wouldn’t be surprised (but saddened)if Rob moved on, so I think we may need another midfielder, or two if we don’t get Junior.

Upfront we need 3 good strikers. Adam Warlow fits one of the bill. Rod fits another, so long as his legs can keep up with work rate. I am not sure with the lad we got from Warrington. He looked OK when coming on as sub, but looked out of his depth when starting a game. I think another class big centre forward is needed.

I think it would be great if we could get junior Brown, he looked extremely good for the few games we had him. Even when he was covering different players in different positions he played well. I think we need a second tough tackling midfield like Macca in case of injury and for the games on bad pitches like Prescott. One more quality striker and maybe another defender but other than that i think our side is more than strong enough.

Briscoe has gone to play for Houston Dynamo in the MLS in America

Well that’s a backwards step

Manchester Wittoner. Do you know of a goalkeeper that doesnt make any mistakes ? Even the best keepers make mistakes. I think that JK is the best keeper in our league. Its also rare for him to make a mistake.
Your well of the mark to single out any mistakes that JK has made. You say that you find it hard to understand how some of the errors are happening, Because you know how good he is.
Come on, how many times have you seen great strikers miss a penalty ? Or an open goal.
Keepers are no different than any other player on the pitch. They can also go through a bad patch of form. Even the best keepers.
Adam Warlow couldnt buy a goal in the early part of the season. Just look at how many goals he went onto score. We need to move on from looking back at the individual mistakes that were made through the season.Because mistakes will happen in every season. Even by the best players, and best teams. Heres to the next season, and here`s hoping that we make less mistakes:)

Lots of rumours floating about re the manager and players, I know there is an information meeting next week, but having spent sometime this week on the Fylde coast, I hear Warlow and Peers to Fleetwood and Brownhill to Altrincham. There is also rumours on the non league grapevine about Jim’s position - any clarification from anyone?

The above named players are on Witton’s retained list and whilst there is bound to be interest in players during the close season any of our contract players would have to be purchased.

Regarding Jim’s position - he’ll probably be sitting down for many weeks with his leg up.

Thats good enough for me.

I think Brownhill to Altrincham is virtually a done deal, unfortunately.

Is it? How much did we get?

G E,

As usual, u seem to know more than the rest of us, but u like playing your cards close to your chest (maybe u should join the poker league).

If u are able to denounce some of these rumours about Jim and our players, it would be great, and if u could expand, we would be grateful (albeit I understand if your position at the club does not allow u to say anything until after the meeting).
