Curzon Ashton vs Witton Albion

Over now? A win would have been brilliant after last week but a draw at Curzon proves we are good enough to gain promotion.

Ditto.

Absolutely gutted about what happened at the end today. At this moment in time it feels like a loss!

We had plenty of opportunities to make it two long before they equalised, but anyway well played lads. I like it how in the games against fellow ‘strong teams’ we always seem to match and if not, better them. This was something that I think was missing under Vince. We’d have all taken a point at half-time so in reflection its a good result, just a shame about the circumstances.

Fantastic support again from the Wittoners, Around 100 made the short trip and were well behind the lads all game. Curzon might have a lovely new stadium and a team top of the league, but they certainly don’t have any fans!

Couldn’t agree more LP

First half we played some brilliant free flowing football curzon were chasing shadows. Then some very dubious decisions from the ref. arguably they could have had 2 sent off before coops dismissal. Second half followed with more poor officiating the linesman joining in when he could.

Good battling performance second half unlucky to concede late on after blatant hand ball from there left back. We then got given a soft penalty but a great save prevented us from taking the deserved 3 points.

Great performance from the lads and the fans.

Don’t even get me started on the ref, disgraceful isn’t the word.

Before the match 1-1 was ok, at half it was good so lets settle for that and push on, who missed the pen by the way, i think the playoffs is our best chance and I say that because on our day we are the best team in the league but such a small squad and we will have injuries and suspensions which will hurt us more than the teams with bigger budgets and larger squads.

Don’t mention “The Pl**offs” it meks me nervous!! Bloody good result there today well done to all concerned (sound like ther was a bit of Rennie reffing went on!)

Don’t agree with the last comment, I think we can push on to the title with the squad we have, we just need to stop “doing a Witton” and throwing points away when we shouldn’t. In Pritch I think we have a manager who will ensure that will not happen again this season.

Proud performance today. First half only one team in it but we didn’t take our chances. How many did Titch miss?
Hats off to Gardner for doing a good job as stand-in keeper.
CJ: Josh had the penalty well saved but it is disappointing to come away with only one point.

Without wishing to be negative we should have taken at least 4 points from the last two Saturdays but, due to our inept performance v Lairds & our failure to convert the penalty today we’ve ended up with a solitary point.

Still, a very good battling performance and on the two showings Lairds were a better team than Curzon. But the league table doesn’t lie.

I thought the referee was poor today. How he could give us the penalty only he knows. The decision to send Cooper off was correct but their No.2 should have gone in the first half. Football is a crual game sometimes.

Merry Christmas everyone.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL. AND DON’T WORRY, IT WILL BE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Deserved all 3 points but didn’t get em!

Football 1st half and gameplan and battle 2nd half were superb. The only time we switched off they scored- Curzon like Skem look very ordinary, but the league table shows that they have the pts on the board and thats what matters.

Another penalty missed potentially a championship changing moment imo.

From a personal point of view when there are a lot of shennanigans going on before a spot kick is taken the kicker should show maturity and walk away rather than stand there for a minute plus!

Great support today half the crowd were Wittoners again and half of them were Santa’s

Final word for the officials-dire both ways! The 2 should have been sent off before Coops was rightly sent off. The booking to Sheehan was an absolute joke, nothing in the challenge. The linesman was totally inept-an embarrasing and blatant handball by the 3 that led to their goal, a blatant backpass and just generaly inept performance which they tried to even up by giving us a penalty that never was(the only thng they did give in Titch’s favour all game bizarrely)

Having said all of that if we had converted our chances all of the above would be irrelevant!

Andy Chad summed up game well. It baffles me how poor we can be against the bottom team in the league (who played well) and excellent against the top team (who were poor). Also, the officials were dire. The lineswoman looked half asleep at times! Still, we would have settled for a point before the game so lets not be too greedy! SBL

As Gordon Gekko said, “Greed is Good”!!! Let’s be “Greedy” for three points EVERY game.
WHS.

Can only concur with everything that Andy Chad said. The officials were absolute rubbish and spoilt what would have been a great contest. No disrespect to Curzon but they got out of gaol with the refereeing decisions and our own problem with missed chances. Never seen a more one sided game in the 1st half and don’t really know how Curzon are at the top and how they manage on such meagre gates but good on them. They are a big side and would probably steam roller other teams but not us when we start playing our own brand of passing football. Having said that it was a nice touch by their no 4 to come over and applaud us at the end and I think the lad lives in Rudheath by all accounts. At least he showed more respect than the no 3 who was laughing at everybody because he got away with the hand ball just before they equalised!!
I would have been happy before hand with 1 point but after seeing the game we really should have got all 3. I was impressed by young Schofield who on this showing deserves further outings can he go wrong with a surname like that aka FRANK for the younger folk among us, and Chris Gaghan looks very sharp in front of goal. The work rate from all was first class and it was good to see us bounce back after last week. Special mention for Gards who did nothing wrong in goal and was having a great game at right back before hand. Just hope our management team can get in a good goalie on loan to cover for Coops when he has to serve his ban. I can’t argue with the COOPS sending off by the ref but their no 2 should have gone well before he did go and booking Sheehan when he was sandwiched between 2 players was just a joke!! The Ref was definately the worst this season with the penaly decision for us an absolute travesty still we didn’t score so basically no harm done!!
Onward and Upward to Warrington with PRITCHMOSEDEEL RED ARMY on this showing we must make the play offs. Incidently try the Wilkies Tavern before the match for some proper real ale. Its just off the big roundabout down from where Oliver Cromwell stayed you know the black and white old building near Sainsburys!!
