And so the night ends with some good news!
I am sorry to say that I am not upset by this news, which is a dissapointment in itself. I felt that Jim and the club gave Dean the opportunity to make his mark on the side and if anything he let them down. In contrast Jim rightly supported the player, as a manager should do, and gave him sufficient time to make an impact. A manager should not openly criticise a player and Jim handled the situation with Dean very well, despite I am sure feeling frustrated and concerned at times.
Unfortunately during his time at the club Dean has shown the fans very little. I am not sure we have ever seen him fit and clearly injuries and perhaps pressure of his work have contributed to this. There is no question that Dean has been (and perhaps could remain) a decent player however it has not worked out at Witton.
Beyond that I would do nothing other than wish him well if he chooses to go on and play elsewhere.
Bar takings will be down now though…
In fairness to Dean, he may not of produced the goods on the pitch, but he was always friendly in the bar after the game - and seemed to enjoy the Race Night!!!
