Some people will think im crazy here but for me this season is almost mirroring last season and im getting worried!
We started fine last year and then had that huge run of defeats including Runcorn in the FA Cup which meant our season was over in September and then it was downhill all the way!
We started well this season by beating Ossett (just!) but after our 6-0 away win at Prescot i thought we had a team of Champions! What i didnt realise was how poor Prescot were and they were getting tonked by everyone!
We got a 94th minute goal against Mossley to snatch our only other point
Defeats to Lancaster, Vics and Glossop have followed and the all out attacking football and 100% effort seem to be sadly lacking.
I wasnt at Glossop but ive heard supporters who were there weren’t impressed by the performance or the players laughing and joking in the bar after the game!
I fear for us in these next 2 games, defeat tonight at Droylsden will see us in the bottom quarter and a defeat on Saturday will be unthinkable!
Sorry for being so gloomy but i stayed positive last season and i dont want to be playing derbys against 1874 next season!
Its now we find out if our manager is really good or not, can he recognise the problems and then can he put it right ? Hopefully he starts putting it right tonight UTA
Matt Cat your not crazy I’ve got exactly the same feeling. You can see on the pitch where the issues are but to be fair to the manager its still early doors and he needs to take a look at things from an all round perspective and maybe needs a bit more time. Playing Titch further back is criminal he deserves a chance as first man up front playing on the centre backs hip. That way we will utilise his pace more and maybe score goals. The midfield is far too slow and not mobile enough and we also need some pace wide. Quite happy with centre backs and goalkeeper and Gards is currently our most consistent player. Maybe need a left back so we can throw Jon Dawson with his pace further forward. I’d like to see the Ben Mills lad start too as he’s scored whenever he’s come on. Like CJ I hope our manager can see whats wrong and work on it to get us right but so far I’m not impressed and I am somewhat dubious about the way we are playing
Come on lads, we have lost these games by the odd goal not 0-4! As a Wittoner I am naturally pessimistic but a win at Droylsden and then in the Cup will put our season back on track.
