Cheers for the updates Wheels and well done to all. We needed that :clap UTA
Attendance: 118.
Titchener and Cropped up front together, why not? Great result though.
WHS.
Looks like the substitutions (the first one at least) made sense and paid off last night. Following the updates at home I thought at half time that it would be a good idea to bring on Titch with about 20 mins to go to run at their tired defenders once Cropper and Mills had worn them down.
I am not sure it was a plan to bring on Titch up front Cropper was injured, however Titch then proved what a threat he is playing on the last defender, scoring twice hitting the post and grazing the crossbar in 20 odd Minutes !, a good win in a bit of a strange game pretty fast paced full of mistakes was fun to watch we looked vulnerable down the right side as we played 3-5-2 and Baker and Green didn’t really look comfortable in the roles, interesting to see Jim Vince on the touchline for them ! For me the game only highlights the need to play Titch up top probably with Cropper who took his 2 goals well last night and whether we continue with this shape I don’t know but it would be good to see Roberts back in midfield and just a final point to say how well the keeper played again on thjis form one of the best we have had in sometime. UTA
was a good result in the end last night albeit against a fairly poor outfit.
witton played well with some decent performances from players, but were still missing that midfield link which probably came from playing wide players in the middle.
it worked last night due to how poor the droylsden defence was and summed up in the first goal one long ball over the top freeing cropper to score and then again a poor pass for the 2nd witton goal from the droylsden left back allowing cropper to run through.
i think we need a ball carrier in there and like the look of dean warburton pre-season, he keeps it moving well and links things up i think him roberts and schofield would be a nice combination in the middle when all 3 are fully fit and available.
on to saturday’s fa cup clash hopefully put in a good performance and get to the next round
