I heard that he had to work yesterday.
What I couldn’t understand yesterday was taking off Roberts and then the other central midfielder within the space of four minutes, the game was still on a knife edge at that point and we could have nicked it. Once they went off we completely lost our shape and balance and got continuously overran, it was only a matter of time before they scored. I can only assume that one or both of them were injured, if not it was an awful decision tactically at such a crucial stage of the game.
Firstly apologies to Neil Wilson. I was so frustrated on Saturday afternoon having arrived at the ground just before the 2nd half having been stuck in the M56 debacle!! I asked Neil a direct question within earshot of everybody which in hindsight I should have asked more quietly so apologies Neil. The fact you answered my question speaks volumes about you as a top Witton person which we all know anyway!!
I’ve said before its early doors for this season but already we are losing ground fast. The team just is’nt right and basically the only player from the Norton set up who is up to standard is the goalkeeper who actually is quite outstanding. Like CJ in an earlier post I feel we lack a good left back, a really good midfielder, a pacy winger, and a striker. Titch is being wasted because he should be playing as first man and using his pace like he used to to get goals. I’d like to see more of the Mills lad as I feel he could get goals maybe alongside Titch. As for the manager his tactics baffle me and also the games I’ve seen so far show we are not really an attacking team like he said we would be. I also find it frustrating that he has an entourage of back room staff with him yet we are still a poor team probably lower mid table at the present time. Why do we need so many people and what are they contributing because I can’t for the life of me see improvement on the field?
Obviously Scott deserves further time to get things right I understand that but we need to get the right sort of players in and release those who are clearly not good enough. The problem is though the people who are not good enough are those who are quite close to the manager and I’m not saying they don’t work hard enough but there is a problem that simply they are probably not quite good CONSISTENTLY enough at this level.
I just hope Mr Ogden and my good mate Terry Murphy can influence things with their knowledge and contacts in the game as clearly the manager needs the right sort of experienced help which leads us back to why do we need so many backroom people.
Are we getting value for money on the budget we are on? The answer at the moment has to be NO. I might be out of order here as the backroom staff might not get anything from the budget and are doing it for nothing and if so apologies but to my mind too many cooks spoil the broth an addage that can be applied here!! Have a go at me if you want I know I’m a hard task master but I want what is best for Witton Albion and at the moment I just don’t think things are going well where it matters on the field andI’m just a little worried about it.
Lets hope we can improve starting at Droylesden tonight!!
