Well done boys all we can do is keep winning, rushall had a good win v fylde ! Maybe a bigger threat than we thought ? UTA
Attendance at Grantham was 210.
Rushall v Fylde attendance 193  , we really do need a benefactor to go forward, anyone got any ideas ?
We don’t need a benefactor we’ve got pritch ! Seriously if we just keep growing as we are slowly but surely we will be fine.
Just got back from a very blustery Grantham. Really solid performance in very windy conditions, went 2 up early on and at 3-1 it was game over despite them having the wind in the second half. We had a couple of chances second half to increase the scoreline but overall another professional performance and a great away win. There was no minutes silence/applause re Margaret Thatcher.
A very professional performance today, built up our lead and remained solid at the back.
Good support too, for such a distance.
Alan Spruce giving it to an entire stand of Grantham fans was sheer gold!
An image of a section of our support today, in what was an extremely soulless ground!

Terry Warrender? Max Griggs? Steven Vaughan? Connet? Rushe???..
No just someone to help day to day bills, no volunteers = professional people coming in = money going out, do you MM know much it takes to maintain the ground, how much the running cost are. The remaining board members /the 5 or 6 volunteers are struggling to keep the club going as a honest, pay our way club, Wake up smell the &*,
I am aware, and believe me I meant no disrespect whatsoever. Volunteers who help out the club are wonderful people. I do what I can financially as an ordinary person…if I won the lottery mind!
Just my opinion is that the “benefactor” is never the answer (unless it’s a genuine wittoner helping out a bit). No club can be beholden to any one person, it isn’t sustainable no matter how much money they have.
Anyway this season is beyond our expectations and a chance of the playoffs is more than we could possibly have hoped for after the glory of last season (my proudest as a Wittoner and that includes the heady days of the Conference, Wem-ber-ley, match of the day etc!) COME ON THE ALBIOOOOON!
Yes I do understand where you are coming from MM, in an ideal world I totally agree with you, however the higher our expectations are, the more volunteers we require. Just to keep bills down and allow any spare finance to be directed towards the playing budget.
My point was initially that if it wasn’t for financial benefactors certain clubs, such as North Ferriby, Fylde and Rushall would not be in a play off position given their average attendance etc. Witton have come a long way in a relatively short period of time.
Without a financial boost or more volunteers I believe any future growth is unsustainable.
PS I do need to lighten up don’t I
The trouble with sugar daddies is that its all OK when all is going well and they continue to pump money in. The club prospers, the fans are happy and “all is well in the house”. Chelsea and Man City being the best two examples at the top level. After countless years and years of mediocraty both clubs now have the financial clout to compete at the top level in English football allbeit totally falsely in my opinion. The trouble is when “the dollar dries up” or the backer gets “fed up with his toy”. Without naming teams there are loads of non league teams which suffered this type of fate! So, whats the answer? Well, without a lottery win from a genuine supporter its got to built around steady and sustainable growth in the income stream and sound financial management. Witton seem to have this in place but sometimes though these things don’t always match the asperations of the supporters. We have a really good chance of achieving promotion this year and if we do get into the Blue Square North (I say North loosely) then I guess a whole new financial model would be required. (Talking like an accountant here)!!! Certainly the team with a few subtle changes is good enough to compete at that level and if we do well the support should increase which in turn generates more revenue in the bar / food shop etc. Also, at a higher level it should be possible to attract more sponsors. I guess we all have to do our bit to make it happen. SBL
