Harrogate FAT Replay Wed 24th Nov

Agreed a reasonable performance from the albs they were better in possession and busier than us, however we did miss several good chances macca and ben are tghe best 2 that spring to mind, had a good goal disallowed, a very good penalty shout, we had more about us when callum came on to replace the new player foulkes who didnt do much imo. Mistakes cost us dear with 2 goals given away really but thats what happens when you are under a bit of pressure, tighten up the right side defence get everyone fit and we will be ok not going to win the league but maybe make the playoffs with a bit of luck.

For once I think the referee cost us a game. He made two blatant mistakes at crucial times. Having said that we missed a couple of chances too. But all in all I really did feel that the referee cost us up to £20,000.
WHS.

I thought the officials were abysmal.

Our 2 forwards didn’t get a look in with the long balls played up to them. That was because just before the ball arrived, the centre-halves were fouling them from behind. It’s a common ploy in football these days for centre halves to give that small nudge in the back to put the forwards off balance. It’s hard for the referee to pick-up, even when all the crowd are telling him about it. This is were the referee needs the help from his linesmen, but unfortunately yhis was not forecoming last night.

The big decision was to disallow our goal. When I heard his whistle blow, I (and most people around me) thought he had blown up for a penalty, rather than allow the goal that came after the foul by their keeper on our player. Totally bemused when he gave them a free kick.

I hope he had a good time on their team bus back to Yorkshire!

You can’t keep blaming officials - you will have them going on strike  - by all accounts certain players did not perform as good as they did at Harrogate. The attendance of 175 was not surprising, with champions league games on the box and did i mention the cost before.

I didnt think that the system suited us last night, we were too narrow and McGuire ended up sitting too deep. Foulkes wasnt in the game at all, but i understand he had a good game on saturday so hopefully it was just that they had learnt how to play against. If Macca scores first half then its a different game, but certainly we had 1 if not too perfectly good goals ruled out. Awful officials, and i think we have every right to feel agrieved.

I hope Ben wasnt too badly hurt when he had to go off late on.

Saturday will be tough, and we have to be prepared for another difficult game. We have no divine right to win any of these games - especially not last night’s game against a decent BSN team.

Was good to see Stott back, and he looked absolutely devestated as he left the pitch.

I think it’s time we sorted out the fullback situation now. It’s been dragging on for far too long.

Foulkes to me looked like just the type of player we need, he slowed the game down and invaraibly made a telling pass, he may lack a bit in the fitness department but I am sure that will come. I am concerned we are struggling to score goals against decent teams but I take consolation in that Skem apart we are not losing badly. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways on Saturday, if not I think several players will be shown the door, they may be full of effort but some may lack the quality needed to ge us into the play offs, and I am not just talking about fullbacks!!
WHS.

Robbo says “think it’s time we sorted out the fullback situation now. It’s been dragging on for far too long.”

Perhaps the manager does’nt think there is a problem - he keeps signing midfielders and forwards !

And some of the fans think it’s all over…
