Kidsgrove probably deserved a draw for their second half showing but Witton missed chances.

Thanks again WHEELS for the info.

Flippin heck I thought we had this one credit to Kidsgrove for coming back like that!!

Just back from a balmy evening in Kidsgrove.Witton had enough chances to win 3or4 games against a team who were much better than the team we beat earlier in the season. At times it seemed to be eleven versus fourteen with many of the decisions favouring the home side, surely some of the fifty odd offsides given against us were incorrect? Just like a home game with the number of Wittoners who made the trip, but without the ski slope and goalmouth duckpond that the national trust had provided .Made me feel all nostalgic with the match being played under gas lamps. Jumpers for goalposts and all that.PS good luck to the Grove for the rest of the season, they may have left it too late to make the playoffs but should carry on climbing up the table.

We were dominant for most of the first half but strangely after conceding the penalty and it being saved we lost our way and seemed content to just “Hoof It” up field to no one in particular. Once they scored we got back into playing our real game and with luck could have scored 3 or 4. Their equlaiser actually came as a surprise as we looked more likely to score than they did though they had several chances too.
But all in all 7 points out of 9 away from home is not to be sneezed at and Basford and Kidsgrove are both going well at present. A point won rather than two lost imo.

From Kidsgrove Forum…

This was one of those times when it wasn’t just a point, it was a GREAT point.

A lacklustre first half saw us going in at half time 2-0 down against a far superior side. A thrashing seemed the only outcome as you could only see them scoring more goals as we had not turned up. The only highlight of the half was Malbs header against the bar, our only attempt. We were on the back foot from the start and the game worsened for us with the substitution of Hodges for Skelts (hopefully the decision was not tactical!) -Hodges yellow card tackle (I think he’s still getting there) within a minute of coming on led almost directly to their first goal, and their 2nd followed less than a minute after that, following a balls up by Martin in goal. Another decent crowd and another no-show from the team in the first half.

Not sure what was said at half time but a totally different team came out second half. We put them under more pressure in the first 2 minutes of the second half than the entire first half. The pressure paid off with a penalty that Harry wasted. But more pressure lead to Harry making up for it a few minutes later and getting us back in the game. From there it was a much more even second half. They still created chances (hitting the bar and post, putting a couple wide and Martin making up for his poor first half by pulling off a couple of great saves), but so did we. As Reece said, it could have been 5-5. However, when you’re 2-1 down going into injury time, you’ll take a point all day long. A great corner, and a great header by harry into top corner and the miraculous turnabout was complete! Credit to the lads for hanging on in the game against one of the best sides I’ve seen down the Novus this season. Say what you want about Ryan’s men, we are proving bloody hard to beat. Although only one point, it was probably the happiest point of the season.

Bring on Saturday.

Just about right.

Some of Carl’s substitutions puzzle me , I thought young Danny was’’ running them ragged’’ , so why take him off ???, he really looked athletic & confident . We made enough chances to win 5 matches , I hope someone pays for it on Saturday !!!.

You may be happy with a point but Ai certainly wasn’t. We could and should have won the game easily. we need to consider getting a draw away from home against the likes the of Shaw Lane and Spalding as a good result and not against teams like Kidsgrove.

Very frustrating to watch those wasted chances

Being two nil up at half time and totally in control it certainly is two points lost.
However the sign of a good team is to move on and win the next game

We certainly played well and without 3 first team regulars in Wilson, Williams and Roberts and over the 90 minutes deserved to win IMO just on the amount of clear cut chances we made, but if you dont finish you can get sucker punched and we did. Kidsgrove were very physical and theatrical on a pretty poor surface where it was hard to keep your footing and the officials let them get away with it all night they were almost reffing the game, I also understand taking of Danny as he had played well looked quick and direct ( if not lacking a pass at his youg ager ) but He was tiring but I would have brought Hickman on who is more up for a battle, Hincliffe seems to be a luxury player and Hickman would have protected the full back better 10 points out of 12 is not too shabby though is it. UTA

I think from the 50th minute until the 80th we were very much under the cosh and lucky not to be behind having dominated most of the first 50 minutes. The last 10 we could and possibly should have scored at least three time. Kidsgrove are a team in form so a point there is no disgrace but it would have been nice to come away with three.
