Well done Wheels.

Second game in a row that Shaw Lane have conceded 3 which gives us hope. And Spalding are going to run out of games soon. They’ve only got 6 left!

Spalding have ten games to play. They are here at The NetDec Stadium next Saturday.

I think we will have to win virtually all our games to have any chance of catching them but you never know, Fleetwood did it to us a few years ago. Second seems nailed on as it is just between Shaw and us by the looks of it.

Then that is a game we have to win Wheels.

Cheers for the updates! I may not log in a lot but I followed the game in Germany on Tuesday…and a great result today! How many did we take away today?
Spalding have ten games to play. They are here at The NetDec Stadium next Saturday.
yeah sorry, thinking there was 42 games in the league season. 46 of course.

only 42 not 46

Terrific win by the lads keeping the pressure on the top two, but for me more important at this point is consolidating our place in the playoff positions which is now looking very strong. Looks like the win over Shaw Lane has kick started us again and lets hope its the start of a great winning run for us to end the season. UTA

March is going to be pivotal to our season. Spalding (twice), AFC Rushden and Diamonds (twice) and Leek (twice).

Can we do a “Fleetwood”?

From Loughborough…

Loughborough Dynamo came off second best against promotion chasing Witton Albion at the Nanpantan Sports Ground, slipping to a 4-0 defeat.

Before the kick off a minute’s applause reverberated around the ground to mark the passing of Dave Walton, who played for the club in the 1960’s. After retirement from playing Dave was a regular visitor at the NSG as a Dynamo supporter, until his final illness made it not possible to do so.

Witton sit in third place in Division One South with games in hand on the two clubs above them, and after an even first half the Cheshire side asserted their authority in the second forty-five minutes. Dynamo can feel disappointed on the four goal difference, but Albion showed why some at the match felt that the Cheshire club is the best side to have visited the NSG so far this season.

Albion came close to opening the scoring in the second minute, Thomas Owens seeing his header scrambled away. Dynamo’s first shot was from Karl Demidh in the seventh minute, who saw his fine dipping shot, after cutting in from the Dynamo right, go just over the Albion crossbar. Two minutes later Albion goalkeeper Ryan Crump beat Danny Durkin to Roger Lee’s through ball.

Albion took the lead in the seventeenth minute when a poor pass in the Dynamo defence near the home penalty area saw the ball eventually reach Robert Hopley, the Albion number 9’s rising deflected shot beating Dynamo goalkeeper Jack Tolley.

The twenty-sixth minute saw a long range shot from Albion number 11 Bradley Bauress go just over the Dynamo crossbar. A minute later a long ball into the Dynamo area was well controlled by Hopley, but the Dynamo defence managed to clear the ball.

Hopley and Bauress were becoming more of a threat to the Dynamo goal as half time approached, but it was Dynamo who were next to threaten. A ball in from the right eluded Dynamo number 9 Ash Hodgkinson but reached Louis Keenan, who saw his right foot shot saved by Crump, ensuring half time was reached with the visitors having a one goal advantage.

Albion asserted their authority in the second half. After a fairly even opening to the second forty-five minutes, Dynamo were the first to threaten when good play on the left by Demidh set up Keenan to put in a good centre which right back Louis Guest headed wide.

The sixty-third minute, however, saw Albion start to edge away. A low ball in from the Albion right was met by Bauress, who sidefooted the ball back across the goal and beyond Tolley, doubling Albion’s lead.

Four minutes later Jack Beckett’s fine drive drew a good save from Crump, turning the ball for a corner, from which Albion broke away at speed. A long clearance saw Tolley come out of goal to kick clear, but he sliced his clearance. Baurass picking up the loose ball and rolled it home, with Tolley still out of his goal, to give Albion a three goal lead.

Albion’s fourth goal arrived in the seventy-sixth minute, when Dynamo captain Carl Sibson tried to prevent an Albion forward going clear in the Dynamo penalty area, but only managed to foul him. Referee Ed Cook awarded Albion a penalty, and a yellow card to the Dynamo captain. The impressive Bauress took the spot kick and beat Tolley in his left side, and securing his hat trick.

Albion were comfortably in charge of the game by now, and the only goal threat in the rest of the game came at the Dynamo end, when Scott Lycett’s powerful header from a corner was saved by Tolley, a Dynamo defender completing the clearance by hacking the ball away.
The four goal difference was harsh on Dynamo, but reflected an impressive team performance by Albion, which keeps pressure on the sides around them.
