According to the Winsford United website (I was bored) we have been drawn against the V*cs SHOULD we beat Barnton. Seriously, what is the point of this competition though? Games must be played at a loss!
I must agree with your sentiments, as the senior clubs do play at a loss.
However, for the local players who play for the ‘lesser teams’, it can be a great occasion to play at our senior clubs grounds.
Although the Mid-Cheshire District FA take a share of the gate money, they don’t just keep it! The FA money goes towards funding the FA competitions held each year for footballers of both sexes and for footballers of all ages in our area.
Unfortunately, the cost of hiring grounds for the finals of these competitions, the cost of officials to run the games, and the cost of providing trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up is not cheap. The small amount of money made by the MCDFA during the Senior Cup all goes into the financial pool that helps run all the competitions for football in our District.
