Having sent my usual text updates to all and sundry I’ve had mixed responses but the majority are supportive.
RAW yes I agree I do care if he swears etc after all the effort we put in the other week to get 170+ family people through the turnstiles. (that would have virtually dobubled the gate on Saturday).
As for agressiveness however I wasnt in the tunnel at the time however from memory wasnt a certain Darrell Dicken been sent off for throwing punches and was gaghan in a round about way - no one slated them and that was on the pitch in full view!
Anyway, long and short we need points - Saturday is the next step and we must support the CLUB.
Just seen Lutkies post - without digging up history - there was an ex scummer on the wing for them who diliberately elbowed Lally in the jaw in the 1st half which was missed by all officials but seen by everyone else. The ref incidently missed whatever happened in the tunnell too! gota love em eh!
I was dissapointed when Gary left first time because I felt he was building a good team and I think we were in the top 4 when he left. The quote in the paper at the time from Mike Worthington was that The manager has left because he was more ambitious than the club’ I know that Pritch also reminded JV it was Garys team he inherited not his own. Welcome back Gary.
Gary is a quiet sort of person and doesn’t engage in conversation easily. Please don’t expect him to be all happy chatty manager like the snake was.He may seem aloof but knows his footie job which is good enough for me.
The decision is made - Gary is in the hot seat - end of !
If the board think he is the man to keep us up and hopefully build for the future, then he has my support. At his side he has a couple of guys who know what its like to play for witton - Lee and Pritch - so I think the rapport with the fans will grow.
Let the past stay where it belongs and lets move on.
Just to put the record straight. My comment that I didn’t care if he swore or if he treated the players and fans like dirt was merely exagerating what we need from a manager. I don’t need him to be “my mate” and neither do the players, his remit is just win games, not be “likeable”. As for the swearing issue I don’t want to hear it at Witton, I hear it enough at school!!!
WHS.
You know eli, that was my first reaction too!! Very few managers make a go of it second time around, let’s hope Mr. Finley is the exception that proves the rule. (Never really understood that saying)
WHS.
To be honest I think Gary is the right man to take us forward. His last spell at the club was fairly successful and he brought some good players in like Robbo pointed out peers, connors, JK were all his signings.
He got us through a few FA cup and trophy rounds, we also just missed out on the play offs. To me that’s a good season, don’t know what other people think.
Nigel has done a lot for the club last season and this season. Everyone appreciates what he has done, he worked extremely hard and is a top bloke, I and everyone else thanked him for that. But we have to move on.
Now is the time to get behind the new management team.
I presume Gary will be having an introductory information evening.
A considerable amount of the feel good factor in recent seasons has been down to the good interaction between fans and management.
Even if he has all the right footballing attributes which we need at the moment he has a wider role to play.
Obviously there are some varying opinions so a meet the manager evening could be invaluable.
Obviously 3 points on Saturday is THE best way to win over the fans.
