NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM AT WITTON ALBION

Not a case of putting the boot in Tony, its a forum, and therefore an avenue for thoughts and debate.

As for supporting the board, well I’m allegedly part of it I think!

But again as the person who has engineered sponsorship deals of over £16,000 for the club, and helped the Supporters via the Development Fund contribute £30k plus over the last 3 seasons I feel entitled to air my views.

I’ll continue to support the Club come what may, and the guys in the dugout and the team on the field.

Not sure I agree with Robbo re the mechanics of JV’s success being based on GF’s groundwork, that would surely mean that Utd’s success are all down to Ron Atkinson’s team/youth development and not so much Fergie! I think the Scotsman would disagree!!!

FTF - Onward and (the only way is)Upward

agree wiv robbo and tonee, we have to support gary and lee. NO NEGATIVITY. U just dont know how we will do under them yet. Im sure those dissaproving of the appoinment wil be a lot quieter after our 3pts tomorrow which we WILL get. I have a question, was Lee his assistant when Gary was last at Witton?

Yes he was Gary’s 2nd assistant after Gary Brabin moved on, I quite liked Lee he seemed to have a calming influence and was more interested in talking to the players on the pitch rather than threatening the officials and opposition. Think he was with Benny at BPA aswell when Benny got the boot.

…and for those younger ones, Lee was also the left back who crossed the ball for Mike Lukevitch to head home our only goal at Wembley in 1992.
Gary Finley left a good solid skeleton of a team
Chad, i said the above.

Of the side that nearly won the title the first season, JK, Tommy S, Pritch, Peers, Connors, and Moseley were already at the Club (not all brought in by Finley obviously). JK, Pritch, Tom, and Peers were also part of last season’s squad. JV added some excellent players (Alex Brown, Rod Thornley, etc), who made the difference between being a play off chasing side, and a title chasing side. HOWEVER, it was the fans’ contributions to the Development Fund that made this possible of course. The point i was making was more that Finley left us with a side that with a few additons very nearly took us up. JV’s legacy is a team that requires several additions not to be relegated!!!

To clarify one of my other points regarding us going down; what i meant to say was i feel that IF things had of stayed the same as they were last week then i think that come April we would have been relegated. Nige may have changed things, i don’t know - a new number 2 perhaps? But as we were, then i didn’t see any way out of it.

Wonder how many games Danny will give GF if he does not do the biz ?

andy, will speak to you tomorrow at ossett.

I reckon 5.

I wish Mr. Finley all the luck in the world, daft as it seems we may be second from bottom but a play off place is not beyond us if the two new signings are as good as they sound.
WHS.

I appreciate that the views of ‘outsiders’ are sometimes not welcome and this may be none of my business - but in respect of some of the reservations about Gary; I worked with him as closely as anyone during his time at Colwyn Bay. In terms of involvement with the wider club, he attended our events ranging from sportsmans evenings to our Staff v Fans game as well as running coaching clinics for local kids. He may not go out of his way to ingratiate himself to fans in the moments after games, but that is as much down to his focus on the match as his lack of a bedside manner. He is passionate and some can misinterpret that. His contacts and selection of Lee (formerly with us as well) as assistant will provide as good a network of players as is needed at this level and one thing I know is, players will play for him and have a loyalty to him as an individual.

Our discipline record with him as manager was better than the teams that finished above us in the ‘table that matters’. As a fellow Bay fan has posted a decision was taken at our club to replace him with a nicer guy that some welcomed as he would share a pint with people in the bar after the game; we have dropped from a promotion candidate to a relegation one. I too will be following your results with interest and will probably try and take in a game.

Funny people the Welsh though are’nt they ?

behave greenie…il give him 6!

Spoke to one of the players and he said the 2 training sessions went very well this week, a lot of fitness work which resulted in one of them bringing his tea back up! :S

It’s about time.Team fitness has been in question lately.
I didn’t see that comming!!! Well I suppose we won’t be top of the fair play chart under Finlay but we might show a bit more fight and heart with him in charge.
If he can stop us from going down then he will have done a good job so here’s hoping!

Gladto see Pritch as player/coach!
Considering we were well bottom after the North Ferriby game, Gary has done very well to win it twice, and get us near the top of the Fair Play
