New Signing

We have tonight (subject to his release coming through) signed
Reuben WIGGINS-THOMAS, from Buxton Town.

He is 20 years old, born in Nottingham.

He plays either centre or right-side of mid-field, who is fast, who likes to play direct, and score goals.

His previous clubs include Mansfield Town and Chesterfield.

didnt he come on as a sub at buxton 2nd half?, if same he was very pacey.if he can show that form for us, then an exellent signing.

lets hope he can do whats needed (hes got alot of work cut out for him)

Has he played for Leigh RMI at any point in his career?

Probably. And Warrington no doubt.

Oh - part time supporters can be so sarcastic !

Ex Gainsborough is as much as I can find out it seems.

Reuben Samuel Wiggins-Thomas
As well as Buxton, he has also been with Bradford Park Avenue, Hucknall Town, Matlock Town and Eastwood Town, apparently. Played just the once for Chesterfield first team in a 1-0 Johnstone’s Cup win at Oldham Athletic in November 2006.

To be fair we haven’t signed any Leigh or Warrington players for a couple of days now so I can’t really complain.

Seriously though he seems like a good lad and if he has got pace then he is going to trouble defences but it doesn’t take a genius to see that we have the 4th worst defence in the leage so maybe some strengthening in that area might be a better option than another winger.

You never know though this lad could be the player who turns the season round for us and its great that we are getting these young lads in and hopefully they will improve in the next year or two. But we are in a relegation battle at present and maybe a couple of experience campaigners might boost are chances of finished higher up the league and help bring the young players on too, lets see what Nigel comes up with though.

To be fair, defending starts from the front. And we are a bit light on the flanks from what i can see.

Our first-choice back 5 is fairly strong - and experienced. Smith, Donnelly, Pritch, Burke, Scott.

It’s possibly centre-midfield where we could do with strengthening now.

Thank god we dont have to pay to put the players name on the shirt in the Unibond !

our back 5 is strong??? The rumours must be true Robbo u must have been absent at Hednesford, haha

Have i missed something or has EVERY supporter been praising Greg Smith this season? So that’s one tick out of 5 so far.

Pritch?? He’s a given, so 2 ticks out of 5.

Donnelly, nominated for player of the month so is another tick. Thats 3 out of 5.

Gary Scott is generally thought of as being a class act. That’s 4 out of 5.

Not bad that even if Burke isn’t playing too well. I’ll take 4 out of 5.

But hang on, i said ‘fairly strong’, and ‘experienced’.

So if the other 4 get the ‘fairly strong’ vote, then Burke surely gets the ‘experienced’ vote?

5 out of 5 - a clean sweep!!

He’s the biggest name in football since former Telford star David Andrew-Arthur!!

a 5 out of 5 rated defence would not concede so many goals Donnelly, yes quality. Greg Smith amazing deserves to be protected by better centre halves. The only possible 3rd tick may go to Scott but still not sure on him yet but hes earnt time to show what he can do. But Burke hell nooooooooo!!! He is a calamity. And as great a servant as Pritch has been, he cant go forever, and thats starting to show now, but hes just come bak from injury so he needs time

I agree all the defenders on paper are very good but are not playing well as a unit at the moment, that could be that they are having far too much to do with the midfield not playing well, hopefully with a little bit of pace in the side it will give the opposition more to do than pile the pressure on our defence!

PS, I wonder if Steve Brodie recomended him to us so he can get himself a game at Buxton?

Just been watching an old interview with Alan Ball on Sky. What he said is very relevant to us. We really must understand that the manager needs TIME and to accept that success is not going to happen overnight. We have to support our club through the bad times and the good, that is why you lot are called “fans”, you are, in the nicest possible way “fanatics” and long may your "fanatiscm continue, but PATIENCE is the word.
WHS.

Well despite all the negativity I’d like to welcome him to Witton, played at this level and with a team who where up there with us last season…well play offs anyway… As mentioned he could be the turning point and again the midfield does need strengthening. . . . . . Nige did offer me the job in midfield but he couldnt find a shirt to fit the expanding waist line:blink:
