Excellent result lads.
Great win and bounce back against a team managed by an ex manager no doubt primed to prove the doubters wrong. Simple message. Well done Carl and the boys.
I heard that Gards was going away with work. I personally never doubt Gards commitment to the club he is a Witton giant in my opinion. Great result tonight boys.
Great result shows we do have character .a message sent out if one was needed that we are promotion candidates . Shaw Lane lost tonight so a good result tonight .
As far as I know I think the club knew about Gards going to Thailand as early as last season , I’m not sure if it’s a work related or not . Either way I know he did give plenty of notice . And I do agree with the concerns , but I personally think the lower the level you get , this happens . I doubt it would if we were in conference North I think the club would be less flexible .
Great result and as has been said a fantastic bounce back. Well done all. Out of interest how many go up automatically from this league is it one or two?
Well done to everyone, great to bounce back with a win away from home. i wish we had Toli on a permanent basis, he is proving to be a class player.
N ow let’s get down on Saturday in numbers and back the players and management to the full to get that promotion we are craving for.UTA
From Newcastle’s web site
Manager Dundas made a couple of changes after Saturday’s game against Loughborough Dynamo. Tom Fogg replaced the injured Kyle Diskin and Lee Cropper came in for Jake Lovatt who reverted to the bench. Chris Baker, having returned from his honeymoon, took a place on the bench.
The game started at frantic pace and neither side was able to get any passing moves put together. The ball was flying around the pitch at about 100mph and neither side had any control. On seven minutes Jordan Cole set Lee Cropper up and his shot was deflected for a corner. The corner was cleared. Witton Albion hit back and forced a couple of corners but each came to nothing. Danny Cocks went on a great run but Brown stopped him mid run by taking his legs. Sam Bradbury hit the target with his kick but Roberts saved comfortably. On 19 minutes Omotola shot wide from a narrow angle as Witton Albion applied pressure. A good run by Cocks lead to a corner for Castle on 23 minutes. Headed behind for another corner. And again! A defensive slip lets in Otomola on 24 minutes but once again he shoots wide from the right side. On 31 minutes Lee Cropper ran on to a through ball from Danny Cocks but was stopped by the assistant’s flag. On 36 minutes Prince Haywood broke on the right and Aaron Dillon made a diving save. A long ball from Dillon ended with a Newcastle throw and again Lee Cropper was again victim of the assistant’s flag. On 42 minutes the ball was picked up by Tolani Omotola and he shot just inside the post from twenty yards.

Newcastle Town 0 Witton Albion 1
Chris Baker was brought on at half time to replace Danny Cocks.
Witton Albion had an early shout for a penalty ignored by the officials and the ball was cleared. Niall Green was beaten to a through ball by keeper Roberts. Chris Baker was another to be foiled by the assistant’s flag. On 54 minutes Blake conceded a foul just outside the area. Williams blasted the kick well over the bar. The game became a midfield battle and the Castle team were gradually getting some possession. Witton won a corner, on the right on the hour, and the ball went wide. A Witton break ended with the assistant’s flag coming to Newcastle’s rescue.
A long free kick ended with Jordan Cole having a half chance but his acrobatic attempt was blocked by Roberts in the Witton goal. Then the assistant’s flag again stopped the attack. From the kick number two Haywood blazed well wide of the Castle goal.
On 71 minutes Tolani Omotola broke down the right and smashed the ball into the roof of the net to increase the lead.
On 73 minutes Sam Bradbury cautioned for a poor challenge. The free kick was headed out for a corner.
On 76 minutes Jake Lovatt came on to replace Lee Cropper. And on 79 minutes Sam Bradbury was replaced by Sam Bryant.
The game became stretched as Castle strove hard to get back in the game and Witton started to play on the break and were looking dangerous.
On 89 minutes a Newcastle cross into the box was deflected past Roberts but it just went wide. The corner was cleared.
Shortly after the referee blew for time and the game was over

Just one goes up automatically Paul, then the next four in the play offs in the same format as when we went up in 2012
I thought we dominated the game without being at our fluent best-probably credit to Newcastle for that, Prince had a pretty good game at right fullback but I think his talent is wasted there ! I would like to see him pushed forward and probably Wes Benjamin at full back, think we would be stronger for that and putting Tom Owens on the bench. None of our ex players really impressed at all and Danny Roberts was rarely troubled - our midfield 3 of Bauress, Williams and Reeves dominated midfield and Owens played a link role between them and the strikers but despite having a fair bit of space he didnt really use it that well wasting passes and getting caught in possesion. Lets hope that puts us back on track and given that Newcastle were third in the league we were clearly better than them in all departments. As to the holidays issue Yes I am surprised also at the number missing this season so far also think Bauress was away as well ? Ref Gards it was said He is away with his Job but nothing official announced or on facebook, hopefully it is just a fluke year ! but hope we put it right going forward our squad is not that big we can cope that easily.
A very Good win and on we go :clap UTA
It really annoys me the way some fans jump in here about committment of the players without knowing the full facts. Sniping at Gards is ridiculous because he is one of the most committed players I know. He lives and breathes Witton has had the chance to leave for more money like other people who have left the club yet he’s stayed. The reason he has had to go to Thailand is I believe work related. The lad has a really demanding full time job working with underprivilaged kids. All this sniping is not helping the team at all in the case of Rob Hopley the lad deserved a Saturday off anyway as he busts a gut everytime he goes out on the pitch.
So try and think before you post these demorilising remarks on here. Find out the full facts before doing so otherwise you’ll sink the season before its started.
As for last night brilliant a comprehensive win against a team high up in the league. Onward and Upward UTA
Another pleasing result, especially from those of us who have been banging the drum for the last 12 months about the great things going on behind the scenes.
Personally, I’m delighted to feel the uplift in mood on matchdays (some more bloody home ones would be nice!!) and this can only go hand in hand with our continued efforts.
Now, I’m here on the football threads because more people read these I just wanted to drop this in…
I want to take a quick minute (for those of you with Facebook) to share the links to our facebook pages both for Witton Albion fc itself, and Witton Club - Functions and events.
If you haven’t done already, please click ‘Like’ on these pages, and to receive notifications. This is very important as it tells facebook that Witton interests you and then we feature higher in fans’ newsfeeds. Also, something much more important is for supporters to share the posts. This opens up the potential audience massively. If you share a post and one of your friends engages with it, ie likes it, facebook thinks we’re super cool B) and then shows us to even more people.
I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn where I say we have a brand to be proud of and that we can market so lets not only get behind the team, but the entire football club too.

:clap That was a great result last night, just goes to show what these lads are capable off with their determination and fight . over the last couple of seasons we would have been looking at going on a poor losing streak after a defeat, so well done to all involved for getting the right players in with the right mind set. Still early days but its great to watch. Roll on the weekend for our first home Saturday league game of the season  Anyone who hasn’t seen this team yet, COME ON DOWN, you know it makes sense, and the real ale goes down a treat guinness
Cannot make this one, doing Front of House at the Grange Theatre for the MCMTC’s South Pacific. (They are nearly as good as the Albs!!) I will be there in spirit though.
WHS.
Sure you’ve not been on the spirits  i also wont be able to make this one as it WAS LAST NIGHT!! :silly:
Firstly well done the team on a good result last night. On the other subject, we have to remember that these are part time players who have other jobs and their own lives to lead, as well as trying to fit in training and matches which can involve large amounts of travelling even to home games. OK, so nobody forces them to do it, but they just do it for the love of football, just like us fans. I think management would soon step in for any persistant absences by any one individual player. Try and put ourselves in their shoes and cut them a bit of slack.
Mona stop picking fights with fellow fans. I thought this was a football forum for people to discuss and air their views, didn’t realise that there was certain criteria that we had to agree with you or not post!
Ever likely nobody new posts on here!
Great post Mona!
