I have no problem with players ‘bettering’ themselves by playing for clubs in a higher league - I would suggest that i would rather play for our club with our support and facilities for £200 per week than Droylesden for £500 - They are a club run by and relying on one man, their support is and has always been poor.
In the case of Fleetwood no doubt they are going places - until the next time they face a crisis and end up having to wind the whole thing up and start again because they’ve overspent.
Good luck to Macca at Stafford - very honourable, and it’s local and i’d have him back tomorrow.
To the other players who are thinking or being persuaded by people with strange motives that their future lies elsewhere, I would think long and hard about it, money is no good if you don’t have the same craic and rapport that you enjoy at Wincham Park.
If any of you do leave then please do it in the right way, ensure that we receive a decent transfer fee in return for being prepared to take a chance and give you a contract, which works TWO ways.
Always bear in mind that the supporters used there OWN money to make it possible, and you won’t find a more caring and passionate bunch anywhere else in non-league football.
All i can say is look at the clubs these players are going too! I would hardly say it is too better themselves they are going for the MONEY. I am glad they are leaving as i honestly believe we would have got no further next season with this squad and they would have just strung us all along for another season. They are where they belong in the past. Lets forget about them and concentrate on the future.
to be honest most of the players who have left were the ones who bottled in the big games last season. Playing good football is great to watch but we need players who at the end of a long hard season stand up and we aint losing today. Players like scott willis will hopefully bring that to club.
Fantastic post Chad and summing up in a few words what I was getting at in a more verbose way. We the fans have been very badly let down in my opinion by certain players who bottled it at crucial times last season. I’d like to think that those who remain will be the ones who always give 100% and in our number 4’s case 120% every game!
For those players wanting to get out remember it was us lot who cheered you on and who supported you through think and thin and virtually worshipped you and helped pay yer wages, so think very carefully about walking out the the best club you’ll ever play for!! Money is not everything and also playing at another club for more money means that they will want more from you which you might not be able to live up to!!
Onward and upward at least we are making some signings but I think we need some more and Nige is proably working on it with his new right hand man. I hope so anyway!!
lets all be positive from the start of the new campaign,and more vocal from the terraces,even if we do go behind at times lets keep shoutin for the witton.
