In last weeks NG Oggy was calling for a winter break - with the weather we have had so far it would have been a pretty long one. Not in favour of winter breaks in this country anyway, you can’t be sure when the bad weather is going to happen unlike the other european countries. Some teams would only end up playing friendlies.
I think a winter break might be an idea but rather than a break we have 3 weeks where we play the mid cheshire and cheshire senior cups, if you get knocked out maybe a league cup game or 2 if the weather is bad then the cups are forgone.
I know its a daft idea but Oggy started it.
No need for a break in the good old days, when non-league attendances were good. These days in chilly weather then why not.We cannot expect players to risk injury in front of two hundred spectators.I think it is expecting too much to prepare Christmas night for a game the following day.
It is different if you are getting ready to play Vics infront of three thousand people like we did in the conference days. Those days are a dim and distant past in the modern Sky Sports, only the Premiership exists world of football that we now find ourselves in.
I think non league football should be a summer sport.
Comprising of clubs that do not have any intention or desire to become full time in the football league.I see many advantages and very few disadvantages. Ok no FA Cup revenue, hard pitches during dry spells!eh players on holiday ? Anything else anybody ?
When Oggy said he would like a winter break he did’nt mean all winter ME !
Agree with with u about non-league playing in the summer - you could still have the FA Cup qualifying rounds and then the few who get thro to the 1st round could play on.
While Witton games are off try MyP2P.eu As for summer football I am against as it would clash with my cricket umpiring which I love.
