Brilliant result, well done to all. Up the mighty Albs :goal
I hope this is a wake up call to our absent supporters, and that they re-think their absence, and get back down the terraces and support our team!
Great result and a very winnable game in the next round.

I’d like to hope so too Jeff but sadly I think it’s going to take more than a win at Ossett in the trophy.
But once we get a new management team in place and hopefully get back to winning ways, the positivity will come back and so will the good atmosphere that we all associate with WP then we will see terraces start to fill again.
All ifs, buts and hopes I know but without that what would we have?
UTA
Special mention for our Development Squad Manager & Director of Football Development John Salmon. Four of those on the pitch tonight came through that system and without them we wouldn’t have had a team last Saturday, let alone tonight.
Derek…nailed on comment. As I said, good result, good prize money but all about the development squad, John, Oggie, Terry Murphy and the Chairman. I work in the Corporate world and the buzz words are Disaster Recovery and resilience. Tonight speaks volumes of Witton’s foundations. Got to build now…
If this is the route the club is going down why bring anyone else in?? We’ve tried two “up and coming” managers in recent history which clearly hasn’t worked, why not keep it all within the club? Oggie and Terry Murph have vast experience and local knowledge, add to that John with the development squad I wouldn’t have thought we could go too far wrong. This sort of set up would get my vote over another promising but unproven manager.
Great result last night. All credit to the players and management team after the upheaval of the past week. Difficult place to go on a wet Tuesday night - and that’s not to mention the issues around actually getting there !!
As for Oggie and Murph taking over full time, I suspect that having run teams for more years than most of us can remember, they don;t really want to go back into full time management. Lets just be glad we have them now to steer us through these difficult days.
from the Ossett web site…
Albion thought their problems were over once they had got the game on, although with a delayed start, after torrential rain, thunder and lightning in
Apart from the opening couple of minutes, the home side had very little to offer. In the 4th minute a defensive mix-up left Brett Souter in the Albion goal stranded, and Daniel Andrews had an easy task to roll the ball into the net.
Witton gained confidence from this and played the better football whereas Albion relied on the long ball which gained them very little.
The second half was more of the same and another defensive error saw Souter race out of goal and miss his tackle. Christopher Baker was able to go round him and slot the ball home to double Witton’s lead.
Albion introduced Adam Muller and Connor Bower and it was Muller who began to influence their play. Danny South was moved up front and caused problems for the Witton defence, but it was all too little too late.
What a result and what a performance.
Must say I was very surprised by the showing last night especially after having lost the keeper and Salmon through injury ad illness.
Yes there were a few hairy moments but we took the game to Ossett, played some great moving football at times and came away with an unexpected result.
I think great credit needs to be given to Paul/TerryJohn/Dave and the rest who have pulled this together under difficult circumstances and short notice.
If Neil’s posting we must be under budget and receiving prize money!!!
Seriously well done to all for getting the job done at Ossett.
:clap :clap :clap
