EMBARRASSING !
The first 45 minutes were the worst I can remember in 50 years of watching them ! Mistakes, lack of concentration and lack of effort ! There are at least 3 players that could leave tomorrow and we would not miss them and we might have to re balancing the books. Runcorn played ok but did not have to play well as we constantly gave them goals through poor play. Fuming just now I hope Sheens is and can sort this team out we need to replace our slow, unmotivated highly paid players with fit younger enthusiastic lads.
Probably one of the lowest points of my 40+ years a Wittoner
Totally unprofessional first half. Then being Witton we claw our way back in before Runcorn exploit us when pushing up for the equaliser. I think most of the team should give back their wages if they have any self-respect. If any of them get released because the budget has to be cut then today is one of the reasons why. 3 grand down the toilet. Powell did his usual awful challenge and was lucky to stay on the pitch. A day to feel ashamed to support Witton. Why do we often start so poorly? I could rant on, but it’s so depressing.
At least Powell played with some passion more than can be said for several today, and from where I was his chalenge was a simple yellow made worse by the histrionics of the Runcorn player.
Worse than Stafford away? And all those 0-0’s against Macclesfield?
Disgraceful!!! Lea, Davidson, Howard and Titchener may as well of come and stood with us in the stands, Bakkor didn’t start again obviously out of favour but the team are no where near as effective without him in it.
No commitment or passion to play for the club, the opposite can be said for Runcorn they battled from the first kick off until the last!
We were pathetic and I hope Sheehan gets rid of the expensive deadwood because we don’t owe anyone a living!!!
Can’t argue with anything written above.
Well done to Simon Burton and all at Runcorn. They wanted it more, and were deserved winners.
Meanwhile back at Wincham Park…we’re going to have to seriously get behind Sheenz and his team over the coming weeks. Could be some ups and downs whilst Sheehan finds his feet and gets the squad looking like he wants it.
When the dust has settled, today is done and we need to re-group TOGETHER and ensure that we move forward TOGETHER. Today cannot be the catalyst for another season like last year.
Lets tap back into that optimism of the summer months - its only September! Plenty of football left yet.
this time last week some of you on here were saying how great we are,now 7 days later you’re slagging em off.did’nt go today and the 3k would have been nice for the albs but if the players cant get motivated for the greatest club competition in the world then they should’nt be playing football.
Bizarre, bizarre, bizarre. totally disjointed uncohesive performance, lots of passengers on the pitch today, and I can’t make a defence for any players today aside maybe Moyo and Harvey. Without disrespect its as bad a performance as I’ve seen even on a Sunday morning.
Some ‘established’ players Ben/Powelly/Titch were absolutely anonymous and given their experience and the class that they have it was so disappointing to see them have no influence on the game.
Make no mistake today was disastrous morale/money/season defining etc BUT we’ve been beaten by Congleton/GlossopWinsford in similar circumstances and its not been the end of the world or the end of the club.
In Sheenz we must now trust and its up to him and the board to back him and see what this group of players are capable of.
UTA
I suppose one consolation is that today’s performance will make it very easy to take decisions to trim the wages to fit the budget!
totally ashamed to be a witton fan after todays shambles, only moyo, harvey and andrews can claim to have put in any real effort. where has the players pride gone? from what just a short time ago promised to be a season to remember is no petering out into one of despair. come on you players wake up before the season turns into a complete disaster. we fans paid good money to travel to runcorn and how did you respond to that? sorry the question doesn’t need answering, you did it today by putting in such a pathetic performance.
This time last week we’d gone up to third despite a disasterous start to the season, positive thoughts. Then we got done despite not playing that badly on Tuesday, now THIS!
Maybe all the over budget axe having to fall talk is having a negative effect on team morale (though they were playing for £3000 today which would have helped matters), got me beat!
I think the only player who came out of the game with any credit was Moyo who in fact had a very good game. It all started at the kick off when we didn’t even learn from the first false start.
Congratulations to Runcorn Town they totally deserved their win yesterday although they didn’t really create anything we gifted them most of their goals.
I’d really like to see Gardner back at full back , we lose so much of his ability when he plays in the middle. With him at right back and Moyo on the left I don’t think there will many better full Back partnership’s the league.
I suppose that’s what cup football is all about, its not the first upset and won’t be the last
I think there would be a long queue of clubs if we put Titchener up for sale and rightly so. I have said it before and it will stand saying again. “Form comes and goes, class lasts forever.” Titch will come good and remember, he helped get us promoted and then helped us stave off relegation. The only problem about that result was the money, it will mean Mr. Sheehan will be restricted in how many he has on the playing staff. A win at Ramsbottom is needed now to get the club and supporters back on an even keel.
WHS.
Nobody is suggesting getting rid of Titch that I can see, it’s just that he is not fully fit and short of games and confidence, we had better options yesterday.
As soon as I parked the car and saw the place I knew we would lose yesterday. Are we so bothered because of the money, is it that we are out of the FA Cup again or the performance?
