Saturday 17th March ???

What does anyone think about the chances of next Saturdays match being on???
As we have the Cheshire Senior Cup next Tuesday 13th Congleton Thursday 15th ?
And I don;t know whether Runcorn at home this Saturday.
It seems to me that the club are thinking more of income rather than Our team getting promotion
Surely WE have priority on when we play at HOME

It’s a fair point Lenster,

According to Runcorn’s website they have a game at WP on Saturday 10th, so all in all chances of the pitch being in a decent state are very slim. We have extra fixtures to find room for ourselves and limited resources when it comes to groundstaff it does not look too good.

Being a man that likes to raise a few quid himself though, I think it is hard to criticise the board too much for this situation that could not have been forseen. You can’t really mitigate for the weather and the fact the ground is being used three times in a week makes good commercial sense. As we don’t have a cavery or tapas bar the use of the ground and social club is one form of generating revenue and I certainly can’t knock the board on this one. We would have had to given some commitment to the FA for the senior cup and to Runcorn in terms of organising their fixtures before we knew of the problem we now find ourselves in. I would rather we get the revenue from other games than losing out to the folks across the canal who could argue the case for having better facilities.

I think everyone who has worked on the pitch has done a very good job this season, if you look at the likes of Matlock and few others they have had games called off following very little rain, all in all our pitch has held up well. Which brings me to the next bit of bad news, any rain at Fleetwood between now and Saturday and we will have another game to reschedule, their pitch is one of the worst!

The Fleetwood game should be played by the reserves and fringe players anyway, that cup means absolutely nothing in terms of revenue and prestige.

You mean like Liverpool against Arsenal in Carling cup ?
No WHS,first team needs match practice and we need those 5 wins.

What we don’t need are injuries and bookings.

Have to agree with V the team needs practice and to get as many wins as possible so confidence in the team is as high as possible! Come on Witton!

Fleetwood have only this to play for, they will be going flat out, I just hope non of our players ends up "flat out" If the first team need match practice they could swap fixtures with the reserves who are playing Barnton tomorrow instead of playing a pointless yet dangerous cup tie.
