Hiya Guys Its Me Willie Wonker the Halifax Town Fan who “spoke” to you all just after Big Jim joined us.
You who responded to me gave me support and were very good to me whilst I was in shock at having to watch unibond league football.
Well things have been sorted out well and despite going the first 3 games without a win while Jim put a decent team together. we at the weekend went top of the division with 8 wins and a draw in the last 9 league games.
Just wanted to say thanks, and hopefully we will be looking forward to beating you next season (so dont get relegated).
I think WHS could have got H*****x to the top of the Unibond 1 given the size of the budget compared to the other clubs.
Average gates;
Halifax 1,134
Lancaster 285
Colwyn Bay 282
With gate receipts of over £11k a fortnight and all the debts wiped free they should be top! You can attract good players when you pay wages higher than two leagues above. The only reason players have dropped to Unibond 1 is the money and not the glamour. Vince will **** it up at some point, he can’t help himself.
Disagree Rabbit I don’t think JV will f**k it up. His personality and morales may be questionable but given the resources he will do a good job as manager. Without money u can’t get good players that’s one of the reasons he left us ( in the sh1t ) he knew deep down that it was an impossible situation. Given time Nigel was the type to do the job,it might have meant going down to achieve it but directors and fans want success yesterday. We will stay up I believe but we are going to be in the same situation next season,no money unless someone comes in as chairman with loads of cash. We are going to have to go to the same old supporters for money again at the start of next season but if the present financial climate continues it is going to be very difficult especially if we are still charging £9 admission.
I have to agree with Eli, and for two reasons. One, I do think £9 is a bit excessive for the league we are in; and two, if we charged say £6 or £7 and asked fpr a donation of two pounds or so to the fighting fund we might actually end up with more money in the kitty as the £2 extra would not be taxable and the lower price might bring in a few more sipporters.
WHS.
