Picko - Is this the Central Ground 20’s or 30’s ? Looks like a tennis court marked out on it ! No idea who the guy is !
That’s how good the playing surface was!

The picture behind the goal, I think might have been taken in 1966 when we played Rhyl in the FA Cup, recall us being 0-2 down and winning 4-2. Also remember the Rhyl fans, and there were 2-3 hundred of them down the bottom end with a big cardboard cut-out of a bloody big tiger, and us chanting “the tigers been shot”!
I remember Nonk getting battered at that game I think - of course that was a regular feature back then for him
[quote=“WHS” post=44614]God! those photos have made me cry!!! To see the old ground destroyed breaks my heart, haven’t seen them before.

Had a tear in my eye too, oh the proud old Central Ground (i didn’t go to that many games there, but to see it dug up tugs at the old heart strings)!!
Is there anything on Wincham Park that came from the central ground?
Maybe just nigel deeley ! and we used to have a square metre of the pitch by the club shop ?
There must be something? What about the turnstiles?
judging by the draught lager in the club, i’m guessing we brought some left over barrels with us
Apart from a Museum full of stuff, the nearest Turnstile to the Club Shop is an original, and CJ,s correct, the bit of grass hanging around outside Sprucies Garage is actual Central Ground turf , which came to Wincham Park via me mum and dads garden in Orchard street, other than that I reckon Cyril Westwoods an original
Thanks jap for keeping your eye on it! Glad there is something on the ground from the central ground
