It’s now 2 teams from 3 as Buxton and Chorley drew 1-1 making it mathematically impossible for them to get 5th. A win on Saturday secures a play off place although a point is more than likely enough with Rushall and Fylde to still play each other.
I think we have a genuine chance of finishing higher than the 5th we’ve been aiming for. Fylde have a tricky game against one of the in form teams of the moment at SPS tomorrow
A win Saturday and might pop down the club for a swift one seriously though wouldn’t it be great to be in a position that we could rest players in the Rushall game for dare I say it the Playoff Semi Final!!! Any news on the dates of the playoffs yet?
I think that 1 point against Frickley is enough to secure a play off place. The last game against Rushall then becomes academic, or does it? Do we want to finish as high as we can in order to play someone different than Ferriby or Hendesford? Or do we rest the entire team in readyness for one of them two (away). Thankfully, its not my decision!!!
By the way as a matter of interest for Crewe’s last home league game of the season they are fielding an entire team of home grown academy players. Maybe the way forward? SBL
The picture will be a lot clearer after tomorrow. However play off semi date could be bank holiday Monday or the Tuesday depending on what the clubs agree.
North Ferriby have to match Hednesford on Saturday and hope Hednesford can’t turn around an eight goal deficit to win the title. One of these will finish second.
If FC United beat Frickley at home on Saturday they will secure 3rd.
If Fylde beat Rushall on Tuesday they will have to get some sort of result from Hednesford on Saturday to get 4th. If they draw or lose to Rushall they need to beat Hednesford on Saturday to get 4th.
Us? Well we just need to play with no pressure! Unless we score a hatful on Saturday and Fc lose we can’t get 3rd. All the pressure is on Fylde for that 4th spot.
To be honest after our last few home performances I think an away game would suit us more. Our away performances this season have been far more consistent and we won at FC and were unlucky by all counts at hednesford. I think it will be one of these two, can’t see north ferriby slipping up
Fantastic effort by the team to be in the playoffs, i dont think we will realise what a team we have here until some years after, just enjoy it while we can if we we go up fanatastic, if we dont its still brilliant. Personally I think we can come through the playoffs but as ever need a bit of luck, a full team and good reffing UTA
A lot depends on how Fylde get on tomorrow, if they drop points and we beat Rushall we will face FCUM in the semi which I would be confident of winning, it’s just Fylde or Hednesford in the final that would be an extremely tough game but then it is a Playoff Final so it is never gonna be an easy game! All ifs and buts at the minute, but whatever happens its been another great season, Blue Square just maybe
In a change of heart Bury are now putting off pitch relaying to allow FCUM home advantage in the play offs should they finish 3rd ( they will )
As i cannot see Fylde getting anything from Hednesford on Sat i think we have a great chance of 4th by beating Rushall which would then mean a trip to Gigg Lane
FCUM have also announced they have chose to play on the Tues night rather than bank holiday Monday so get booking the day off work people!!
