Next weekend We again the official campsite for the Thundersprint event taking place in the Town. We are looking for anyone who can spare a couple of hours - especially on the Friday!- to help with booking people in and pointing them in the right direction. Any time you can give would be greatly appreciated. Please see myself, Mark or Neil at todays game if you help.
I have just seen this on a camping website forum and think it should be posted here.
Hi guys, I have just returned from a fantastic weekend camping staying in the middle of a football pitch!
I attended the Thundersprint in Northwich Cheshire for motorcycle fans and the campsite was at a local football ground called Witton Albion. I was dreading it at first but could not have been more wrong.
Me and my 2 young daughters were better looked after than at some professional campsites, one of the directors actually slept in the boardroom so he was on hand 24hrs a day over the whole weekend - amazing
Red hot showers available any time of the day and a lovely clubhouse which sold the cheapest meals I’ve had in years, I actually had a big plate of homemade steak pie with all the trimmings for less than the burger vans in the town were charging for a hot dog and can of coke!!!
I just really wanted to come on and sing the praises of the staff at Witton Albion FC, especially Peter and his wife for the lovely cheap food and Graham the director who was running around with a mop and bucket whenever I saw him during the day and was very entertaining company at night. Well done chaps I will definetly be back next year.
Yes,I was there Friday and Saturday evenings and the feedback from the campers was very positive with no complaints at all apart from the weather !!I spoke to last of tha campers on Monday morning and they couldn’t praise the club enough.
Some photos will be on Witton Facebook very soon.
Grateful thanks to all the volunteers,Pete Riley,Mr.chairman,Graham the carry on camping,Sammy,Jan,Chris,Reg,Judith, Neil,Tim,Pete R and Sprucie. My apologies if I have missed out any names. Also a big thnaks to the Godfather Mr.Jepson and his team.
Well Done everybody concerned!
I believe the Slow & Easy tried to muscle in on the act by providing entertainment at £7 per head, and also offered camping on Lostock’s pitch. The feedback I have heard is that hardly anybody turned up.
On a more worring note, I have also heard that our council no longer wants this event, and that the Thundersprint will be moving to Chester next year. Does anybody know of any truth in these rumours. If it is true, do we need to start a campaign to keep the Thundersprint in Northwich?
Yep,if true another stupid council decision. It was so good to see so many people out and about in town on friday and Saturday evenings which made a nice change from the ghost town Northich is fast becoming.
I was really moved by this topic. To get praise from a total stranger and his two daughters is the best thing I’ve ever seen on here. The fact that so many volunteers worked hard to make Witton Albion Camping Co speaks volumes yet again for the spirit at our wonderful great and proably the friendliest club in the world. I’m so proud to be a Wittoner this just confirms what I’ve always thought I’m a fan of the best club anywhere in the world bar none. Well done to all are usual suspects at the club you are so tremendous its unbelievable. I just hope and wish we can get players on board next season with half your committment because with that we’d win any league!! Fantastic Onward and Upward!!
As for the council if the rumours are true then we all know what to do when voting next time round. This Chester West thing is a joke have you seen the plush headquarters they’ve got in Chester!! Unbelievable!! Bring back Vale Royal!!
Hear hear Mona.
Well all involved in the camping cannot be praised enough, absolutely brilliant!
As for the rumour about the Thundersprint possibly going to Chester, that would be an utter disgrace (but hardly a suprise for the Chester-centic “Cheshire West and Wonderful Chester” shower of sh*te council!! Vale Royal for ever!
Nice one Vi8, I wonder if the 2 girls in the pic are the daughters of the earlier poster who was so complimentry.
I thought that “loitering within tent” was an offence.
If it is unin’tent’ional it is ok.
Nice letter in the Northvic G this week from a couple in Scotland praising the camping facilities !
