2-1 Trafford according to Twitter :frowning:

4-2 to Trafford now.

I haven’t been getting much information through so thanks everyone for filling in even though the news is disappointing

Result not really reflective of the performance. First half we were good value. Stott and Tuck were lively, Connors and Sheehan worked well together.

Second half it all fell down a bit but still some good stuff. Thought Fallon played well dropping into middle giving us more options were he to sign.

Good to see Gahgan down again.

No Boothy, Wood, Glover or Cross tonight so no need for any worry.

Trafford played some nice football. Right back Ali Brown and right Winger were excellent. I don’t know why they only play one up front though. Oates is good but would be better with support.

First half hour Witton looked quite good. Then it seemed to go t£*s up somewhat and trafford got back into the game. Lots of changes were made so difficult to really judge. Thought Connors had a good game though. SBL

Was looking forward to it ! but didnt enjoy it at all, way too many changes ! we only really got anything out of the first half the second half was a waste of time, agreed that steve connors looked good and rory fallon on the wing was good - dont see him in the middle at all and nice to see Sheehan back. Thought Trafford were decent had some good players and deserved there win although we did miss some chances, once tuck and stott went of at half time we were poor upfront but hey ho im suire once we get down to serious business we will have a good 11. I personally am going off friendlies big time might only bother with the home ones.

Can’t remember the last time we were defeated so a bit dissapointed. However reality has to creep in here as it was only a practice match and we are still very much trying people out. The thing with a defeat is you learn things about certain players and I certainly did last night. I’m sure Pritch and Co have too and they are far more expert than me. I trust our Management guys to resolve the issues but of course we had no Woods, Booth, Shaw, Glover and some of the regulars only played 1 half so this is not a disaster and as I say you learn more in a defeat than you do if you win. Trafford have some lively players but will probably be only a top 8 side.
So where do we go from here. To be honest I think we can rely on the same squad as last season with one or two additions. The most pressing problem is replacing Ollie James. I’m sure Steve Connors will do this admirably. We know up front Stott and Tuck will be the main guys I’m just worried about the backup for them though we do have Chris Gaghan, Bucham , and Newman although the latter does not seem quite fit yet so needs more practice games under his belt.
As for the defence Josh Glover missing last night was a bit of a blow. Here is a lad who in my opinion is a really good player at both Centre Half and Left Back. I’m sure he would have done ok with their no 7 last night who caused us a lot of problems with his pace. So we know Josh will come in and I think we do have other cover for the defence. I think we only need a couple more signings and Fallon looks quality and if we can keep Steve Connors for while longer then I think we’ll be ok.
I’m sure Pritch and the guys know whats what anyway so its just my opinion. I guess the Newcastle game onwards we really do need to narrow it down to those players who are going to be in our squad. Ghaghan and Newman really do need the games as they have’nt played much yet to get match fit.
I’ll take in Ramsbottom on Saturday good opportunity to spend some time on the East Lancs Railway beforehand!! Great place for a friendly fantastic black Puddings round there too!!
Onward and Upward!!

I take the point on Gaghan needing match fitness but at this point both him and Newman need to be left out and go do some serious fitness work (they are both so far off the pace) on there own before being involved with the first team games, yes agreed no panic and when all fit and available we will be ok and of course we trust in out mgt team to get it right.

Where has Olly James gone?

work commitments

I don’t see any need for panic at all or to be downheartened last night. If Trafford play like that in the league week in week out they will be up there themselves.

Friendlies are friendlies at the end of the day, I’m sure Macc or Stalybridge weren’t licking their wounds too much when they failed to beat ‘lesser’ opposition.

It was a good run out for the lads, and hopefully focuses the minds of everyone that the real work is just round the corner

Friendlies are friendlies at the end of the day, [/quote]

Precisely. Trafford beat Airbus last week, who tonked Chester last night, so it doesnt really matter.

Is Olly gone for good or might we see him back this season?

Pritch out.

A club in crisis :silly:

Agreed sack em all!!
Didn’t realise Trafford had got so many good results. Glad in certain ways as ex witton heroes Alan Heathcote and Brian Griffin are involved there and its a nice set up. I’m sure we will have learnt from the rare defeat and its good to see Pritch has already made a positive press announcement about it.
Onward and Upward looking forward to Saturday Black Puddings and a Steam Railway before the match a dream day out for me!!

why criticise about friendlies. they are wat it says on the box, FRIENDLIES. they are played for the management team to assess new players and to experimentwit new systems. so why read too much into reults and performances. we have an excallent management team, so please just let them get on with their job instead of harping on about results etc of these games. let pritch and mose get on with their job of looking at possible new players. after all they aint arf done bad so far.
