WELL DONE PRITCH

Thanks Picko. Sorry if I’ve not cottoned onto this but I would willingly post onto the site as would all other Wittoners if it meant getting Brian a "gong". Does it work by sheer weight of numbers voting or is it just from one person nominating. If its one person nominating then it might be better coming from someone official within the club. Happy to try and do something if you can clarify. Again apologies if I’m being a bit thick here put it down to me age!!

"THE BRIAN PRITCHARD STADIUM" has a nice ring to it if we move to Mss Farm11
WHS.

An excellent piece on Pritch in the Guardian today.

Shows how little fanfare there has been for Pritch when you see this for hitting an insignificant 500 appearances…!!!

Before you click on Robbo’s link, beware, the content may offend!

Shows the difference in Character when you hear Pritch turning down such gestures so as not to take the teams mind away from the game in hand

yes well done pritch, a true wittoner.

you very old wittoners will be able to answers this, but doesnt j goryl hold the appearance record for witton at 605?.

John was long thought to hold the record but Chad researched all players and games he found that Alf Ashley holds the record on 604 games

I think we need Chad to get on here and settle this debate asap!!

John was long thought to hold the record but Chad researched all players and games he found that Alf Ashley holds the record on 604 games

if chad said that it must be right then. not much about witton that (old chad) doesnt know.

unless eli gorton knows better.

Back on the "wet" UK scene and chuffed that Brian was actually given the captain’s armband when he notched up his 600th appearance. Thanks Mark and I can categorically confirm that he needs to play in just FOUR MORE matches to break Alf Ashley’s 604 match record. "Mr Witton’s" next personal goal, I would suggest, would be to see him actual make more starts than Alf as remember we didn’t have substitutes back in those days.

To answer a previous suggestion, John Goryl lies third in the all-time list following 539 appearances (11 from the sub’s bench. As I pointed out when he was feaured recently Frank Schofield would probably hold the appearance record but for the slight matter of World War II cropping up!

" slight matter of WW2 cropping up " I would probably be 5 yrs older

slight matter of WW2 cropping up i proberly wouldnt be here.

thanks for clearing that up chad.
my imformation about john came from rothmans fa non-league football yearbook 1982-83.
just goes to show you carnt believe every thing you read. :o

Or is read to you

there are pictures init, will lend it to you one day :stuck_out_tongue:

Congratulations again to Pritch for equalling the record last Saturday. This coming Saturday he should hopefully set a new one.

I know Andy Chad is writing to the local papers this week along similar lines, but can i implore EVERY Witton fan to do all that they can to make it down to WP this Saturday. This is your chance to thank Brian for everything that he has done for this Club over the last decade+. He deserves his acheivement to be witnessed by as many current and exiled Wittoners as possible.

We will probably never see this record broken, so it is an opportunity for us all to witness something that we will possibly never get the opportunity to see again. Not to mention the fact that we have a very important 3 points to play for too…

See you all Saturday!!

Well done Robbo. I know my son is coming back from Oxford for this one and Pritch is one of his childhood heroes so no doubt he’ll be patting him on the back after the match for his magnificient achievement. It just goes to show how brilliant Brian has been because Nick has grown up watching Pritch from his first match in 1995 through to the present. I’m hard pressed to remember who wore the no 4 shirt before him (Steve McNeilis?),though I can remember some of the greatest players whoever graced a football field in the fantastic shapes of Sir Alfred Ashley and Sir Kenneth Barnes. For Brian to be mentioned along with these special legends shows just how good he’s been. Just hope that we get 3 points too and you can bet your bottom dollar Brian will be giving it his usual 120% to get us a win!!

Pritch mate,
I’ll be in London on Saturday so won’t be in person to see the historic new record being set by you.
All the best buddy, who knows it may be 650 some day or even 700 and I hope we are there to cheer you up for either of them.
