Wiiton vs Kendal

JK
Coo - Tony B - Kearney - Tom S
Peers - Lloyd - Macca - Dillon
Warlow - Crowe

thank you robbo!

Agree 100% with Robbo (which is starting to concern me a little). Other than the fact we lost 1-3 and not 0-3 last season in this fixture he is spot on with everything else!!

3 - 1 / 3 - 0 my point is we got beaten!!!

An indeed the points were the same (0), but I thought you would have appreciated the importance of noting every goal. Had we have been beaten 2-3 we would not be playing in this league despite the defeat!

I rest my case!

I don’t know the reasons for the changes last night but I’m guessing Jim had one eye on Saturdays game and was using last night as a chance to rest a couple of players, what a very nice luxury to have for a change! Thought the lads that came in did well after a slightly tentative start, I was made up for Adam who finished all 3 goals excellently, the save JK made in the first half was top draw. Liked the look of a couple of the Kendal players and you could see why they have had a decent start to this season, on that note is it just me or has the general standard of all the teams this season picked up?

Clean sheet and 3 goals sounds easy but Kendal gave us a decent game. Think Rabbit mentioned that they were unbeaten in 10 games before last night and you could see why.

Warlow certainly deserved his goals last night, that makes it 5 for the season now and lets hope he can kick on from here.

Team selection certainly raised a few eye-brows before kick off but who can argue after a 3 nil win?! Still not sure that Pritch needs ‘resting’ though, at his age (sorry Pritch, couldn’t resist!) I think he needs to be playing every week. I still think he’s our best defender anyway, nobody puts their body on the line for the club like Pritch does.
Dillon will gain confidence from a decent performance and Brodie has had a well earned rest.

Roll on Saturday!

Can i just ask how long we’ve been called Wiiton by the way?!?

Robbo didnt you realise we have reformed. ;D

UniBond League – Premier Division - Tuesday October 16th 2007

WITTON ALBION 3 KENDAL TOWN 0 att. 339

TEAM: Kennedy; Coo, Kearney, Barras, Spearritt; Peers (Pritchard 76), Lloyd, MacPherson (Brodie 85), Dillon (Proffitt 64); Warlow, Crowe.

Man of Match : Adam Warlow, n/b Ian Kearney

Jim Vince caused a few concerns when the team was announced by deciding to “rest” both Brian Pritchard and Steve Brodie from his starting line-up and recalling Dean Crowe at the expense of Dorryl Proffitt. Thus making very rare starts were Ian Kearney and John Dillon, the latter made to operate in an awkward left sided position.

Aside from a great run and cross from Cavell Coo and a shot from Mark Peers, both comfortably caught by goalkeeper David Newnes, the opening 12 minutes brought very little goalmouth activity as the midfield contestants jousted for supremacy. Suddenly though Dillon managed to get a cross in, Dave MacPherson headed it forward and on it like a panther was ADAM WARLOW to fire the ball across the keeper.

Kendal reacted by forcing several corners and from one in the 19th minute Warlow cleared the danger and Crowe ran on well to produced a good attempt that flew past the top right angle. In the next minute Central Defender Dean Whital-Williams breathed a huge sigh of relief when as the last man he brought Warlow crashing to the floor, Potteries Referee Mr Bennett only brandishing a yellow card. Town continued to take the game to Witton but Albion soaked up the pressure well, conceding corners with the visitors’ shooting boots well off the target.

On 36 minutes Rob Lloyd produced a brilliant pass behind the defence to Peers who’d temporarily switched flanks, an inch perfect cross left Newnes totally stranded but somehow, with the goal at his mercy, Crowe sent his shot wide of the left upright. Instead therefore of being 2-0 to the good the next move saw the ball quickly played downfield and it needed a tremendous save at the base of his right post from Jon Kennedy to deny what looked like a certain equaliser.

Come the half-time interval the corner count was in double figures for Kendal with just three for Albion but that all important statistic read Albion 1 Town 0. Much the same approach to the game was evident throughout the second period, Town eventually taking their flag-kicks in excess of the 20 mark but never really took advantage from them. By contrast Witton didn’t have a single corner but scored two of the sweetest goals you’ll ever likely see.

On the hour-mark with perhaps too much football being played at the wrong end of the park Kearney spotted the opportunity to launch a long and high ball over the Kendal defence and like a cheetah ADAM WARLOW sprinted through to coolly lob the advancing Newnes. Shortly after he went looking for his hat-trick but this time Newnes saved at the base of the near post.

Peers, on 70 minutes, mesmerised his challengers before sending in a shot that whistled past the far right post. With ten minutes remaining again it was a direct approach that brought results as Kearney played Coo in down the right flank who in turn produced a peach of a cross for the leopard like ADAM WARLOW to spring and volley the ball past the helpless Newnes.

On a sad note the final minute saw the very unfortunate defender Rob Henry stretchered off and taken to hospital with nasty knee wounds following a tackle by Tom Spearritt who received a caution. Also cautioned for a challenge on two Kendal players midway through the first-half, was Dave MacPherson who has had quite an eventful last few days. His wife gave birth to a daughter on Friday, Dave scored against his old club Leek on Saturday, the baby came out of hospital on Sunday and Dave’s had hardly any sleep since. Kendal themselves saw three cautions on the night.

So once more Jim Vince’s decisions came up trumps as with nearly a third of the season completed Albion extended their lead at the top to 8 points and remain unbeaten since the opening day’s match. The valuable match experience for his fringe players hopefully now to be even more rewarded as Albion embark on their F.A. Trophy crusade on Saturday.

How many different types of large cat does Adam Warlow resemble then?!

Well SPOTTED! Last night all his tigerish work in past matches saw him progress to become a lion. Was his footwear puma I wonder?

Can i ask ‘why’ though??

pounced on, sprinted through, leapt for. Three deadly finishes to kill off his prey.

btw why are you still mispelling our great name? :-*

I do apologise

It was about time Adam stopped pussy-footing about.

put your claws away!

purr-fect finishing!

scram off if ur jus gnna chit-chat about adams cat-like features

(any spot the 2nd pun? ;D)
