Oh Dear! Did’nt see much of the 1st half due to gate duties but 2nd half we were woeful. Got back in the game with an " iffy " penalty and good headed goal from the " Boy Wonder " but after that Worksop took control and yet again we conceded a goal to a free-kick from out wide which not one defender attacked and left the keeper stranded. We are now 6pts adrift from the fifth bottom side and 2 away games to come. Worksop appeared to be up for it more than us but i’m sure that is not the case.
Mike Moseley not the player he was - but we knew that when he left - but he tried hard and is obviously lacking match practice, which he will not get now for another 2 weeks - if and when he gets fit then Bradford may well recall him. The new centre-back Booth looked OK for his first game but the full backs were poor today. Smyth is too much of a 1st half only player and it is easy to understand why he has dropped down the pyramid so quickly. We need players willing to run thro brick walls at the moment and at presnt there is only one :-
Sorry Danny, Rugby always takes priority with me and I have never made a secret of that fact. I keep sending my entrance money though, and it probably works out better that I do this finacially as it is a donation and so not liable to tax. I am not missing because we are losing, I wasn’t always there when we were winning either. I am not there because I have other things that are more of a priority when it comes to my free time. You lads on here are Witton through and through and I respect that, I hope you will respect that I do not feel the same way, but I will be a Wittoner until I die and I will always make financial donations when I can afford to. I will be at games when I can, Tuesday possibly, even though it is a non event. I have a meeting at the MMU campus in Crewe that evening, but if it does not drag on too long I will be at the game.

His slack defending cost us the first goal, not close enough to their player who turned easily in the box. It’s too early to judge after one game and like any other player he needs a few appearances before we will know. What is essential, arguably more than any other positions on the pitch, is that we get a settled pairing in central defence. Unless we achieve this the lack of communication will continue to cost us.
If Willis was fit to be on the bench then he should have started in midfield, I don’t think that Keiran is a battling midfield player (not that he had a dreadful game but more a case of him not being what was needed on that side of the pitch).
We now have the evidence that changing the manager is not an instant guarantee of success and hopefully the realisation that this is going to take more than a few games. There are only four or five of the present squad good enough based upon performances so far, however I still maintain that we have to play our best 11 and swap players out on a one by one basis rather than making wholesale changes every week.
Another poor showing yet again - if we cant beat, worksop (twice) ossett, cammell L where will we get the points from?
Gary may as well get rid of them all - maybe if all the volunteers stopped running around like idiots to keep the club going and then they didn’t get paid we might see a response.
My sympathies to Gary, I wouldnt want to manage that lot.
God! don’t suggest stopping the raising of funds, without that extra cash we would be in REAL trouble. The team is not good enough, okay, but we can only replace players if we have the cash to do so.
WHS.
I wasnt suggesting that for 1 minute WHS - I was refering to the lack of passion and interest shown by the majority of players to date.
There are other costs to bear as well at the club other than wages.
Rabbit - if u look closely at my posting u will see that I said I did not see the 1st half - so could not comment on who’s fault the first goal was.
We have the players - they have all played in this league and above( Ross and Danny excepted ) - so there is no reason why they cannot with the right combination gel together - after all they are getting paid to do so - not like us volunteers as Neil quite rightly says.

Correct. No more excuses, it’s time the team started to earn the right to wear the shirt.
If we are heading for relegation then perhaps we should look at who can be dispensed with and who we can bring in instead, but it is vital we keep raising and putting in money so these new players can be purchased and paid.

I think raising and putting in money is a must just to keep our club alive at the moment, players come and go,football clubs at our level first objective is to survive another season, money is everything maybe, but without the “Acting” chairman. board members, the volunteers and the diehard supporters our club will cease to exist.
I wonder what the 20 or so major shareholders want the club to do, I think the majority who have now,and maybe a few,who had never any real interest in football will be hoping in upsurge of land values in order to pull the rug from under the club. At the present time our land is relatively worthless, maybe some major shareholders dont mind biding their time, few of them have shown much interest lately. Most diehard supporters have been ever so patient about the dreadful displays witnessed by the Witton team this season. That is not a swipe at Nigel, who only wanted the best, a good Wittoner a really nice bloke who tried his utmost best. However I think it is about time the few people ie the major shareholders who let us be honest “OWN” but are not Wittoners tell us the destiny of Witton Albion Football Club founded 1887.
Cheer up ME - I don’t think our ground is worthless - the Wincham Village project will happen, it looks as if Roberts scrap are re-locating further down the road towards the Black Dog in readiness to vacate. If we could sell now,pay off debts and any shareholders who wanted it,re-locate to a new more manageable stadium in a better location maybe in conjunction with the council then the future looks brighter.
ME. I agree we need to know what major shareholders are thinking, but to make any money they have to either sell the shares or get enough votes to basically wind up the club and sell the land so they can take the profit. I don’t think anyone has that power, I don’t think any two people do, but there maybe three shareholders, who if they agreed could force through such a move. However the good news is that these three are never likely to agree to do so, so it would seem we are reasonably safe, for now. You could ask one of the major shareholders to sell you some of his shares and if a load of supporters got together maybe you could purchase enough to safeguard the club forever. Sadly I don’t think we have enough well off supporters to pull this one off so we will just have to hope the present satus quo stays in place. Speaking of Status Quo, any news on a theme song?
WHS.
…add to that, the sale or transfer of any shares has to be approved by the board. I believe this is in the memorandum and articles of the club and am sure Reg can confirm.
I don’t think this is a huge area of concern at the present time, we have enough to worry about on the pitch!
Having been a Witton Albion since 1887 I am damn sure that under any circumstances that there will be one moving forward, on whatever basis and league that may be in.
lets not forget gary has just come in and had to inherit all the crap nige brought in. Of those he has already got in Olsen and Smyth were the best 2 we had on the field saturday. Booths only had one game and yeah got done for the goal but ive seen pritch get done like that on a few occasions too and we darent knock him cos…well its pritch. Im sure Booth wasnt Leeks player of the year for nowt.
The problem in the first half was that the full/wingbacks kept going missing, quite a few times I looked across and Brian was getting pulled out wide because he had to cover at left back, leaving Paul on his own in the middle.
Totally agree with you Leroy, time and time again over the last few matches, pritch has been dragged out to the left back position to cover for our non existant left back, leaving the centre vulnerable
