Witton Albion v Worksop Town

There was a different kind of atmosphere at the ground today. Not sure it was because of changes in the social club, the away crowd making some noise or a renewed sense of optimism but whatever it was it was fantastic to hear the Albion voice singing loud and proud. Long may it continue.

I thought we were dead and buried at 3-1. But what a spirited comeback.

There were some errors in the first half defensively and we were punished. However it didn’t go unnoticed and I’m sure that its something that will be worked on in training. I thought Josh Glover, despite his error in the first half did a fantastic job as did Ben. They virtually marked their front two out of the game in the second half.

We rode our luck a bit stepping up for the offsides however it shows a good disciplined defence to do that.

Joe shaw was fantastic today playing with real fire in his belly. I think Sheehan plays better when Shaw is on as there is a good understanding between the two.

Fozzie ran his legs off yet again and what about Tucky!! Their tired defene just couldn’t cope with that injection of pace and energy.

Referee once again was awful. And what was with the black Worksop kit. All hat distinguished them from the ref was the numbers on their back.

Class performance all round but my man of the match - the twelfth man, you lot!!!

Yep, really good win that!!

Awesome spirit shown by the lads, the celebrations at the end showed me this side believes they can go up and aren’t afraid to do so.

On to another massive game next week, let’s hope for another 3 points.

On a side issue yesterday’s results sees us officially safe from relegation!!!

Well what a game of football that was, and I must start with the zigga zagga by Bob Hunter in the Popular Stand in 24 years (on and off) of standing there I have never heard the famous zigga zagga coming from there, it was a once in a lifetime experience to witness the old fellows faces as they sang

As for the game what a performance from Foster the look in his eyes when he was chasing down every ball was that of devil he really was top class. I thought Powell was quality again as was Benny Harrison, but Shaun Tuck made the difference for me, slightly worried that he only came on because Wood was injured though, but forgetting that he changed the game hie was firing the crowd with his COME ON and fist pumping great to see, Josh Hancock never stopped 2nd half and a penalty scorer

I don’t care what the club or Pritch say WE ARE GONNA MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!

CCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEE OOOOOOONNNNNNN WWWWWWWIIIIIITTTTTTTTEEEEEERRRRRNNNNNN

Brilliant! Another three points against Kendal! We can beat anybody in play offs not frightened of anyone!

Breathtaking 2nd half performance, full credit to the players and managerial team for managing to get something out of that.

Shaun Tuck was a breath of fresh air when he came on, he’s a nuisance to opposition goalkeepers and defenders.

Also, Joe Shaw re-energised our midfield, he didn’t stop running and put in a beautiful ball for Josh Glover’s goal.

Get in!

Anybody else starting to feel early symptoms of play-off fever?

What a game, im still buzzing from yesterday and yet at HT we could never imagine what the next 45 mins would produce!

After missing a penalty and then Josh missing a sitter i thought it was going to be one of those days but once we got the 2nd there was only going to be a Witton win! the crowd really got behind the team and you could see this lift the players!

Every player gave it everything 2nd half and some cracking tackles prove that this sqaud can not only play good football there also willing to really get stuck in!

The fans were brilliant its so good to hear us being loud at home as well as away, must add tho that the Social Club was a lot quieter than usual both before & after the game which is suprising considering the clubs now back in Witton hands?! poor that no Worksop fans used the club esp since there was a large following.

Anyway leave the first Sat in May free as i have a feeling we may just have a game to attend!!

That was one hell of a second half yesterday! Similar to last Saturday, when we play like that other teams simply cannot deal with us. FACT
That’s 2 weeks on the run we have dominated the second half against good sides.
I’m so proud of the lads yesterday it was an absolute joy to watch. From plant in goal through to tucker in attack the lads gave it everything 2nd half. What a run by benny Harrison - again teams cannot deal with it! Do it every week! Tucker heart on his sleeve absolute 110% er loves the club loves scoring goals.
Well done pritch and co. you got it right yesterday (have to say I was doubting at 1 point - hold my hands up!) perfectly timed perfect substitutions!

Agreed  Just a shame that he was so quick that when he got in to the box there were no real options for him

supreb second half comeback after gifting them two first half goals to go in 3-1 down. fossie just never stopped runnig and powelly showed what a class player he is, while the whole team showed how good they are- just hope we can keep this squad together, cos they are getting better and better as the season goes on. just a special mention for plant, after making a big mistake for their second goal he went on to produce an accomplished performance, certainly a goalkeeper for the future.

With the squad we’ve got we could be in the Blue Square next season? Dig deep the Board!!! Trips afar i say, Oxford weekend perhaps? JAP to organise as expertley as ever!!! and then a bit like Chester who knows? I think we will beat Chester on Wednesday. Really lookin forward to it!!! Mom against Worksop Josh Glover and Ben but thats two!! Brill partnership, bit like Dawson and Vertongen but not paid as much!!! SBL
