Board are damned whatever they do. From a distance it looks like this decision is a bit premature - it’s not as if we have some divine right to thrive at this level. Having made the appointment the board should support their manager for longer than this surely? Tony Sullivan got backing way beyond this stage last season, maybe the criticism around that choice is the reason for acting differently this time.
Definitely worried about the lack of continuity and so far three unsuccessful appointments since Pritch left. That isn’t good, is it?
Not premature in my opinion the manager was clearly out of his depth. The dressing room was obviously lost you could clearly see that last night with players arguing with each other and a certain player walking straight down the tunnel after being substituted and as for players coming out for the second half 10 minutes early??? The problem lies with poor appointments and this time it has to be right.
I feel for Scott but it’s better to make a change now while there’s still plenty of time to turn the season around.
We simply couldn’t afford to let it drag on and on until it’s too late like last year!
No one wanted it be like this We all hoped that in Scott we were going to generate that family feel with players who would bring a lot of the spirit that he had at Norton couple with success - but that isnt what happened, I dont think anyone at the club could see signs of improvement either fans or the board so yes its a bit early but dont think behind the scenes was that good if truth be known so it all adds up to the right decision IMO.
The board has to get the next manager right and maybe they need to rethink the process of appointments and interviews ! as others have said we are not getting the right people in- maybe it has to be someone a bit older and more proven at this level rather than younger potential types, hopefully from the last interview group there are people who may still be interested and of the right quality. surely this leaves us short for players on saturday ???
who will stay and who do we want to stay??
I’m a long way away from events but the saddest aspect of all of this is that for a short period Witton Albion were the only club in Northwich, playing in a higher division than the other two clubs which could have ‘stolen’ our support and within what seems like only a few months all of that has slipped away. If you were a kid in Northwich today and you had to pick a local team you’d pick the one at the top of the league because you wouldn’t even register that they were tenants. I think what is going on in the community side of the club is fantastic and gives real hope that somewhere ‘‘up there’’ people are making good decisions but in the end supporters need to feel that there is an outside chance of success on the pitch - at the moment I’m not sure anyone feels like that can happen any time soon.
We have no ‘‘right’’ to success but its hard to imagine that there isn’t someone out there who can take what must be one of the biggest budgets in the league and make us contenders. Everything is temporary in football so we have to keep going. Witton are over 125 years old, we are not going to fold because we are tenth in a crappy league. But lets hope someone can inject a bit of optimism and make Witton a force to be reckoned with in this league. Here’s hoping. Best wishes to all.

It’s been in the pipeline for weeks that Dundas head was in the chopping block. If I know that then imagine how the management and the players have been feeling when they’re still trying to bond and gel on the pitch! Ever likely they aren’t playing their best!
Surely Dundas and Co should have been supported in their role? Not saying he’s made the best decisions but he needed a chance to make the changes and not have the threat of having the boot hanging over him. It’s not just the ex Norton lot who have played badly either. The only 2 players to have been consistent are Gardner and D Roberts.
Whose going to play on Sat? Maybe Oggy will dust his shinners off
There’s a right and wrong way of doing things and Harris behaviour is not good and not professional I am disappointed.
Does this pave the way for scully’s return?

According to Scott Dundas, quoted on the Northwich Guardian website, none of the ex-Norton players will be staying as they’re all unhappy here. That might be his emotions speaking in the heat of the moment but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true.
They shouldn’t be happy if they’re losing more games than they win!
I bet if they were top of the table it would smiles all round, and if they were happy considering the current situation I’d be questioning their commitment to the cause!
So angry last night I just left the ground without my usual visit for a natter in the club after the game. I thought it best to cool down as I did’nt want to say anything out of place. OK looking at it perhaps we could have given Dundas a bit longer but quite honestly had he stayed the NW Counties would have been beckoning. Its pretty obvious that he can’t motivate playersand slapping their wrist by sending them out early for the 2nd half standing in the freezing cold beggars belief. The manager should have given the players constructive critism then given them a motivational speech because at that point we were only 2 1 down and could have snatched a point at least. We seem to start every game as world beaters and after 20 minutes give up and let the opposition take us over without even a whimper. Quite honestly I’m not bothered if the ex Norton United players want to bail out I’d only want to keep Danny Roberts out of them all anyway who has been one of our best players. I was appalled to witness the lad Baker last night shouting at one of our players for not latching onto a pass he’d put a foot wide which sums up where the team is at that the manager can’t get them to play as a team.
I just seen that Scott is critisising our club in the Stoke Sentinal so no doubt he feels agrieved that he’s been sacked. I’m dissapointed he’s not worked but you got the feeling that he was simply out of his depth at this level. The downside of course is that the bar takings in the club will be down as his huge entourage will not be with him. Anyways he’s gone and we have to look at who succeeds him. I’m glad some one of of Paul Ogdens experience is able to take over and hopefully he will get some assistence from Terry Murphy and the first job will probably be to stabalise the playing side.
It feel it is now make or break for our already under pressure chairman as he and the board have to get it right this time when appointing the new manager. We need a proven experienced man to take over no good getting an up and coming manager . Its rather ironic but I was hoping that our new manager at the start of this season would have been the Bamber Bridge manager who is doing a really great job. Most of the people I would like for the job are already managing other clubs so this would mean trying to prise someone away. I think this is something Mark would not want to do being chairman of the league but unfortunately this might have to happen. We as fans deserve better after 3 lean years and if it means some kind of etiquette going out of the window then so be it. Our gates and our reputation are dwindling anyway and WE MUST get the right appointment this time otherwise I’m afraid the club will go further down the pan with the consequences too horrific to imagine. So here’s hoping. Onward and hopefullt upward this time!!
I thought things were bad a couple of weeks ago reading Anthony Gardeners and Danny Andrews body language, two of the leagues best players playing well beneath themselves.I think Anthony has applied himself in a very good manner with the summer problems well and truly laid to rest.
I didnt do cartwheels upon the appointment and from the opening day there has been no glimmer of hope, even after the Brighouse game. Its not very good that the Stoke evening paper are reporting discontent and all the Norton players are going home.
The vast majority of those Norton players were not good enough, they never set the league alight last year,im not bothered about the cup run of last year, i did not see a great cup fighting spirit amongst the team.
Are you actually saying that these players if they are still wanted by Witton will give up a paid position to support Mr. Dundas. I very much doubt it.
WHS.
We’ll have to wait and see who’s there on Saturday but players who are looking to leave won’t want to cup-tie themselves. That’s another factor.
Some of the players signed season long contracts.
Might just get them in one taxi after all. I sincerely hope the keeper has one of those contracts.
Agree with that the keeper is excellent.
Any news from the camp as to which if any players have left the club yet?
Rumours suggest most ex Norton players will leave, Witton are trying hard to keep Darren Chadwick and then Danny Roberts but they might still leave, Scott Lycett and Gary Roberts I believe wants to stay, at this level if “contracted players” want to leave they probably still will. I think every fan would want to keep those 4 players they were the only decent players signed by Dundas but I guess time will tell and maybe it depends who the new manager will be and can he get to talk to them to convince them to stay, we could use some of the wasted excess backroom staff budget to offer the lads a wage increase for loyalty if they stay ! UTA
Hoping to hear some news later today. Any new players have to be registered by noon today I believe, in order for them to be eligible for tomorrow’s FA Trophy game.
Players come and go the Albs go on forever!! A word to the players who are thinking of leaving but are wanted by the club. I can think of very few players who left Witton and did not regret it.
WHS.
