Witton Albion vs Barwell

There’s no point putting the knife in now CJ . We have to believe and support the team, otherwise we will be done for. Its not over yet and we have to work our socks off and then see what happens

Yesterday we could have ended up with all three points and that’s what we have to keep in mind. What happens on the pitch isn’t lost on the management team and they are working as hard as anyone to get this right

I’ve not seen as many games as I would have liked this season (excuses can be provided upon request!) but from what I have seen, we are in deep, deep trouble. We have a game plan that just seems to be based purely on work rate and bluster and if that doesn’t work, we have no other option. We have no steel in the Middle of the park and our opposition (no matter how ordinary they are) get chance after chance to have a go at our back 3 or 4. We simply cannot afford to be so exposed. I really cannot see what the manager has done to warrant being in charge for so long. His record is dreadful and the team are turning out awful performances with no positive upturn in sight. People keep saying what a great guy the manager is and that they’re sure he’ll get it right but being a great guy doesn’t get results on a football pitch! Appreciate that this will be taken as a negative post but it’s because I’m deeply worried and people seem to be burying their heads in the sand - “the manager is a good guy and we’re Witton so we’ll be alright”. Relegation is unthinkable and would be a disaster with the green slime looking over our shoulders… #UTA

Where have I put the knife in Knutsfordian, I want him to stay and to be successful but he has to get it right soon or we will be planning for next season in the unibond 1 and from Mark Harris that will be a disaster financially, if you are happy with yesterday good for you but everyone bar none I have spoken to thought it was awful, the first half Was a shambles and my biggest worry is that We don’t seem to be picking up players of any calibre to make a difference which is why I was suggesting adding someone into the team who knows this level of football ? We can’t keep relying on “spirit” to fight back we need some quality have you noticed that we are in the bottom 4 ! And working hard alone will not fix that and but for a penlty save we could have had 0 points.

Notwithstanding the penalty they missed Barwell were by far the better side yesterday and I would think it is them extremely disappointed not to have taken all three points, we were lucky to get one from what I saw and it would have been daylight robbery had we got all three. If people are happy with getting a lucky point against what is (with respect to Barwell) a village club that can only dream of a stadium and fan base like ours it shows how far we have fallen as a club.

Of course the management team and others are working as hard as anyone to get this right, but for the second successive season its simply not good enough. I will reluctantly stay loyal if we go down, how many new fans we have gained over the last few years and potential new fans will want to see us in the league below is anyones guess though. This club should not be in the position we currently are (again) and for me we are in the league below where we should be already.

In all fairness, despite some pretty damning criticism on here, the support from the terraces has remained loyal.

Earlier in the season we set/equaled(?) a record for consecutive defeats, yet bar the odd exception there hasn’t been any vocal criticism to the team during or after matches - which absolutely is how it should be.

My biggest worry is that the likes of Danny and Gards will only stay at a team fighting relegation for so long before they have enough of the same pattern every season.

Sully made huge strides before Christmas, and we put in some outstanding performances at Buxton, home to Nantwich, and for the first 20 minutes at Marine. The home draw with Buxton was also one of the most gutsy performances i’ve ever seen from a Witton side (although we really could have been beaten out of sight).

So clearly Sully does have the capability to turn it around…but time is running out.

Was promising to see a greater contribution from Titch yesterday. Although Rainford’s form has dropped off (not that he is getting much service currently).

The return of John Shaw would be huge, but we’re still short of at least 2 or 3 good experienced leaders.

The worrying thing this year for me is that last season we had Droylsden and Stocksbridge who everyone knew were going to get relegated, so realistically we were all confident and there wasn’t as much pressure as this season, where teams below us have and will catch us up if we carry on.

I think Ched nails its with his post, we are all guilty of burying our heads and just expecting because we are Witton we won’t go down! But at what point do we start panicking?

Apparently though it’s the ‘unrealistic expectations’ of us as fans that’s the biggest problem, if you believe what you read… I mean how dare we expect our team to be above the relegation places!!!

I personally was very pleased with a point yesterday, especially when you realise that Barwell would have been in joint 7th place with 50 points if they had won yesterday!

Happy with a point???maybe. Happy with the performance most definitely not and we will be relegated should we continue putting in these rudderless displays. It is simply not good enough.

Like Geoof really pleased to get a point out of that display, Titch and Rainford I would guess based on the level he was playing at have more talent than Lucas but he got on and whilst he showed no real quality he got stuck in and worked, if the former 2 did the same every week we would not be in the trouble we are but as Robbo says Titch did look a bit brighter. Lets hope John Shaw is fit for Saturday and the promised new centre half gets signed then we might be able to turn this round.

No he doesn’t or we would have had it turned around by now. How long does he want??? We gave him 12 games before we collected 3 points.

He has to go.

Totally disagree
Were not in this mess due to Sully if anything Sully has steadied a very rocky ship!
Think back to before Sully took over we were shocking, leaking goals for fun and losing to everyone!
Now we’re a tough side to beat especially at home and although many of you think we should be winning every week its a tough task after such a poor start to the season.
Sully has a vision for the club, Just remember how Man Utd almost sacked Fergie after a poor start! I hope heres here for the long term and as hes our 3rd Manager this season do you really want a 4th??
In Sully we trust

Also disagree, only time will tell but I have confidence in Sully.UTA

I don’t want to see Sully out, I want to see him sort it out soon, keep us safe and then next season show us what he can do- but I maintain he could do with some help with experience of this league at least in sourcing/ scouting players, we have made more than a few mistakes, would like to see a list of all the players we have had this season ? I know not all of them are Sullies signings tho but we have been through some players.

Got to disagree as well on that one, if we are in this position at this time next season, then I would fully support your comment, but Sully needs a chance to prove himself at Witton after the summer when he can assemble a squad of his own, don’t forget when he joined we had/have players on contract that he didn’t sign, give the man a break he is clearing up a big mess that wasn’t his doing, at the fans forum Mark Harris admitted that certain things that were supposed to workout haven’t, but with the new commercial director and a clean sheet for Sully to start from, only then can we judge him and IF we are in this position at the turn of the new year I will fully support your comment, but until then I fully support Sully

Also disagree, would be suicide to get rid of Sully now. Mourinho would find it hard work staying up with the squad we currently have, which is wafer thin. If we are still as bad half way through next season I would probably agree with the view but sully has to be given time to assemble his own squad. It is paramount we stay up however and I’m still confident(ish) that we can do it. In Sully we trust B)

A run of wins would make all the difference. We got that over Christmas and New Year. We need to do that again.

However, if we don’t show improvement between now and April then i wouldn’t keep Sully on next season to be honest. I wouldn’t want to be potentially changing manager again in September or October next season and then be in the same boat of asking another manager to “clear up somebody else’ mess”.

I’m obviously in a minority here which is fine as that’s the beauty of a public forum, but my feelings are clear and lets move on to Rammy and god willing 3pts :clap

We are all entitled to our opinion vmmp and yours is valid too it’s what makes the world go round.
