Well done Witton final flourish but ultimately not enough to save us. Move onto next season now UTA
Great performance yesterday, great attitude from everybody on a difficult day. I think Carl and Gary are the best team to lead us into next season, lets calm things down and see where we go.
It’s basic really if more Wittoners turned up and supported the team then the whole place would be different. I don’t buy the excuse people stay away because of this and that it’s an easy cop out. The team and volunteers needed more of us to show up, I’m just a life-long fan with no idea on the business and legal side of running a club.
More Wittoners turning up would help.

BRILLIANTLY put!!
I’m afraid this is nothing new, it has been this way for a number of years now. Whenever Jim Powell organised any functions, it was always the same people who turned up and the majority of the people who came, had no football connection with the club then people moaned about events on the pitch but wouldn’t support the events to help add extra funding towards the team.
The same with fund-raising, Jim always approached the same few people because he knew that he could count on their support although he didn’t like asking but he knew people would support him until in the end, he had just had enough and wouldn’t do it anymore.
I’ve just been looking at the league website and Witton’s average attendance is 368 which isn’t bad but there’s no reason it can’t reach 400 plus.
With the new housing estate going up at the back of the ground, it would be madness not to tap into that and get people on board BECAUSE if Witton don’t get in there first Vics will beat you to it.
Leaflets through doors, discounts for first time fans, promotional offers to get people through the gate and then a better match day experience, penalty shoot out for kids at half time, an open training session pre season at the ground for people to meet the team, even a family section in the stand.
It works at other clubs so why not Witton?
Pretty sure we have done all of them activities at some point in the past with mixed success ie the main stand was sponsored by McDonald’s as the family stand, and I’ve definitely done mail drops and marketing drops with Mark Harris.
The absolute best activity you can do is have a good attractive team competing and hopefully a good cup run! The exposure that brings is very effective.
Barring all that, the only other way is wealthy people/business’s investing in our comminity club such as “U lock it” which has been brilliant so far for our club.
Give the new chairman time to build. UTA
We’ve even tried moving our midweek games to other nights of the week but with football saturation on television every night, it becomes impossible to compete as people don’t want to bother going out in all weathers to watch a game.
i know Wheels, yourself and the team have worked so hard to keep thimgs going, the time has come to ask have you the goolies to watch your club against the backdrop of champions league football,i would always watch Witton above man united on the telly, its my club thats how i am,there is not many of us left.
Realism needs to kick in,there is nobody left who wants to watch midweek football,no sugar daddy or windfall can make up an empty wincham park,i would rather tread water in a fabulous stadium and contribute to the maintenance fund and keep what we have,no ambition? Wrexham have spent the last fifteen years out of the football league and soon they face the russian roulette of the playoffs
CJ just because you,ve done it once do,esnt mean it cant be tried again , there are new houses which means new families that probably dont even know Witton are here,
I was in a pub less than 2 miles from the ground on saturday lunchtime watching the football and a fella i was talking to didnt even know where the ground was and he had lived in the area 7 months.
A team playing like Brazil is no good if people dont even know where you are but hey ho you,ve tried it before so lets just not bother , pointless even trying to help with suggestions when that attitude is floating around .
You do,nt think Vics are standing still waiting for fans to come knocking on the door do you ?
I was not saying that ! but simply that contrary to your opinion we have tried things but it doesn’t fit your narrative so snipe back ! if you don’t think I want Witton to be successful then you are deluded and I will put the effort in to help the club when the board decide on our options.
Totally agree C.J., At the end of the day people will vote with their feet if performances on the pitch are not good. As a life long fan I’ve found it hard going to the games this season to the point of seriously not wanting to go.
First things first. No one is seriously questioning the commitment or attitude of the players or management.
What is being questioned is, whether we can get more investment into the club to allow progress to be made and also whether a combined approach with the other Mid-Cheshire teams would allow us to make progress and break out of this cycle of struggle and decline.
It’s a debate that needs to happen.
We would like to thank everyone who donated towards the pitch fund at the final game of the season. The total raised was £228.
Thank you as always to Tracey Collins for her efforts during the season and we will announce the total for the season once we have the final figures.
