Great control and pass by James Hooper finds Will Jones but the striker’s shot on 86 minutes is a tame one and easily saved by Kieran Preston in the Basford goal.
Low shot from Isaac Baldwin on 87 minutes is superbly saved by the Basford keeper Kieran Preston, before he also tips a header from Nick Ryan round the post.
Yellow card:
Witton’s Tom Owens on 87 minutes.
Good save from Albion keeper Chris Renshaw on 90+2 minutes denies a shot from Ryan Wilson.
Full Time Score from Wincham Park:
Witton Albion 2 Basford United 0.
Witton climb to fifth in the Premier Division table.
Excellent result! It seemed like we were going to run riot for a while.
Sounds like the team is starting to come together - onwards and upwards!:clap
Well done lads!bowdown
Thank you everyone who contributed to the “Pitch Fund” Collection at today’s game.
The total raised was £130.50.
A very good team performance, every one putting in a good shift in atrocious conditions, Basford a good footballing side but not great at the finishing ball. Young Regan Griffiths looks like another gem of the Crewe production line great skill, touch, vision and a good athelete to boot, my other player to note is Chris Renshaw who was faultless in those conditions great keeper. UTA
As C.J has said a good team performance and defensively very solid & at times we played some good football. I thought we could have had a couple more goals in the second half but that’s just me being greedy. Totally agree about Chris Renshaw’s handling today in awful conditions. Well done to all the lads and a decent turn out of fans in terrible conditions.
Were visiting fans allowed in? How does it work? I see some teams had more than 300, I thought that was the max allowed!
300 max at Vics level and 600 at ours and yes away fans are allowed, if you just follow social dstancing and the general rules of cleanliness etc all should be fine.
Slightly bonkers that there’s a difference in the maximum numbers at Wincham Park depending on whether it’s the Albion or the Vics at home.
At the moment, it’s decided by whatever league the home team is competing in.
National League North teams deemed to be “elite” which means everything for them is behind closed doors for now.
Northern Premier League = Max 600.
Northern Premier League 1st Divisions, = Max 400.
North West Counties League = Max 300.
All determined by the supposed minimum ground capacity for the league you’re playing in. (In the Northern Premier League, it’s 30% of the normal league minimum ground capacity of 1950, rounded up to 600).
Away teams entitled to 15% of above figures, e.g. up to 90 tickets for Northern Premier League games at Wincham Park.
Local authorities may further reduce or indeed scrub these figures. For example: Scarborough Athletic and Whitby Town have to play their home games behind closed doors just now.
Supporters of “elite” clubs not to attend fixtures at “non elite” clubs, which is why supporters of Crewe Alex can’t come along for the Cheshire Senior Cup tie on Tuesday week (but if they come incognito, not wearing team colours, how will anyone know?!)
As I said upthread, all slightly bonkers, but we are where we are!
