It was always going to be a case of the first goal wins. Sadly it never looked like it would be us scoring it.
We were beaten by a poor team tonight.
Yes beaten by a very poor and very dirty Belper team, but our manager must carry the result on His shoulders not having a single fit striker available and as a reminder we only had one fit in any case and he got injured on Saturday. The players who played did all they could but poor conditions and the availability of of 4 fit subs helped Belper when they needed it.
We cannot go on like this ! the manager has to get a couple of strikers in from somewhere and He should have done it much much earlier ! why can He get defensive and midfield players but not any type of striker and I don’t buy the budget issues He agreed a budget and it was his choice to pick the balance of the squad, we have the most negative manager currently we have ever had at Witton in my lifetime ! He is a good manager BUT He needs to change the negative approach.
Agree with Colin the 4 subs made were the difference last night and cant fault the lads efforts.
And before all the ‘if you can do better’ brigade come out its just a question, is why as a club we have prioritised paying for Sky Sports in the social club (which i imagine is quite expensive) over putting that money into the playing budget? When we can only name 3 subs who can make no impact in a game worth £10,000.
SKY TV over a couple of players !! What are the clubs ambitions ?? A successful team surely means more people in the ground/bar THEN get Sky sports , I was in the bar for the Gainsborough game and about 20 people were watching Liverpool v Newcastle last night Belper nobody watching sky until 1/2 time because our game had kicked off . Again I ask WHAT ARE THE CLUBS AMBITIONS a good team who can compete or are the club / committee happy with top half of the league , it seems they want premier league football on a Sunday league budget
I think, if you ask , that VICS pay a contribution towards the cost, so it’s not as bad as it seems !
