Witton Albion vs Clitheroe

Witton bring the curtain down on another Evo-Stik League campaign when they welcome Clitheroe to The NetDec Stadium. Back in August after a strong Pre Season, everyone at the club had every reason to feel optimistic about what lay ahead of them. Nobody could’ve predicted or expected what was to unfold in front of them. Losing eight of the first thirteen league games saw Witton languishing towards the lower reaches of the league table, certainly something that wasn’t in the script. A change in management and a massive overhaul of the playing squad was inevitable with the experienced Paul Ogden assisted by Dave McDonagh, Director of Football Development John Salmon & former Albion striker Carl Frost, plugging the gap and attempting to steady the ship short term until the appointment of the new management team of Carl Macauley & Gary Martindale became official. Steady progress has since been made, Witton now finding themselves in the top ten when any likelihood of getting remotely close to the Play Offs seemed impossibe. Our opponents Clitheroe, were looking good for a play off spot but have fallen away in recent weeks but like ourselves, can now look to preparing for next season albeit under new management themselves as the current team have announced their intentions to stand down following the completion of the current campaign. Witton will be looking to end the season on a high whilst Clitheroe will be hoping to complete the double over the Albion. Kick off at The NetDec Stadium is 3pm.
