4 wins out of 4 and TOP OF THE LEAGUE!
Had every confidence. This Omotola chap seems to have been quite a find…Bring on the Premier League leaders…!
Just want to thank Pauline and John Spruce for sponsoring the match today and for inviting a number of Witton volunteers to have lunch with them. Thanks also to Noel and his staff for providing an excellent carvery lunch. Brilliant second half by the lads.
A superb and very enjoyable day down at the NetDec. Thank you to everyone involved.
Hear! Hear! to all of the above. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole occasion.
Fantastic performance, particularly 2nd half, to bring the 3 points. Thoroughly deserved ovation for the team at the end of the game.
Echo BJC- Thanks to Pauline and John for the kind invite, Thanks to Noel for his excellent hosting and to the team for putting on a much appreciated win UTA
CRACKING DAY :clap
All looking very different from previous recent seasons , different mindset , attitude , I’m not sure what it is but It certainly is looking good . Gards tells me the dressing room is a good place to be obviously while winning this is the case , but Witton are a different animal to what I’ve seen recently . Reminding me of successful teams of the 70s and early 90s . Let’s hope it carries on
Following Farsley Celtic 's draw with Tadcaster Albion in Division One North this afternoon and Newcastle Town’s defeat at Romulus, only two teams across the three Evo-Stik Divisions still have 100% records. Witton Albion & Romulus.
On Saturday, 10th September, it’s Romulus vs Witton Albion.
Brilliant team spirit amongst the lads, to concede early then miss a penalty and see chance after chance missed, but still carry on to pick up 3 points. Also thought the number 5 Brown’s desire to keep the ball in play which led to the 2nd goal was fantastic, a breath of fresh air to see such desire Its a solid foundation to build on for the season.
Their keeper given man of the match says it all, it could easily have been 5 or 6 but for some outstanding saves. I think most Wittoners would be satisfied with a team with plenty of effort, desire and commitment - these lads seem to have it in abundance from what I saw today. After the missed pen, and a few other missed chances, their heads could have gone but it just seemed to spur them on even more. Plenty of quality in there too, some really good stuff particularly in the second half. Carl has certainly brought in some really good players and we look a very capable side.
It’s very early days but nice to see Wittoners smiling again and dare I say it a feel good factor seems to be returning to WP. Long may that continue. UTA
Another 3 points and a fantastic 2nd half display. Thought Noon played well when he came on at half time, and a great run by Owens which got us the 2nd penalty. Left back looks good and the effort all over the team is what is getting us the results. Very enjoyable at wincham park at the moment and a few more supporters will be back if we keep this level of performance up! Great buzz around the place UTA
The title of this topic should read Witton v A Goalkeeper. Excellent display by him. Whatever the half time team talk was it must have been up there with Winston Churchill and Martin Luther King to turn that first half performance around. Well done to players and management, three more points towards safety. :silly:
Seems signing players late has not been the disaster forecast by some.
Great performance, a win next week would be the icing on the cake.

A superb performance in the 2nd half saw us home in a game we could have won by 5 or 6 but for their keeper having such a cracking game. This team is a breath of fresh air, their commitment is second to none and they play some excellent football. Well to to Carl and company for getting together such a good team of players and well done to the players for such a god display. there’s certainly a buzz about the place at long last. So come on all you missing Witton fans come on down on Saturday and see how good we are now.UTA
I believe their keeper was being watched today by some scouts from senior clubs from a couple of leagues above us. I think he may well have proved a point!
My first look at the team this season after being away. Got to say I wondered what everyone was going on about in the 1st half as I did’nt think we played that well although plenty of effort just too many missed chances and a lot of bad passing. Ok yeah their goalie looked good but he had a lot of luck and was helped by us hitting the ball at him rather than to one side of him.Fair enough though if the lad goes onto bigger things but I think our goalie is good too.
Its a credit to this team that their heads could have gone down in the 2nd half but they stuck at it kept going and we got the result we fully deserved. I too spoke with Gards after the game to congratulate him on 250 appearences and he also told me the dressing room is very together. Carl and Co have done well in the close season to get ta team sorted and you can see on the field that they are very together and working for one another. Its a great start and its early doors but it all bodes well for this season. The only thing we have to fear is ourselves that word called COMPLACENCY but I believe Mr Martingdale keeps on about that so hopefully it will never happen. Well done lads lets keep it going and hopefully with a result against what looks like a good Buxton team. All the lads played well but I gotta say Prince Haywood looks different class to me Onward and Upward UTA.
We have height and pace in the ranks which in this league should see us do well. Big Test on Saturday, pass that and who knows how well we can do.
