Witton Albion vs Radcliffe Borough (FAT.1Q).

CJ you can’t blame Dundas for the state We’re in, the demise started a long time ago, surely yo know that!

Word of the week ‘cronyism’

I imagine the reason for the lack of response on here tonight is that a lot of Wittoners were at the 90s Halloween party which was an absolutely brilliant night by the way
A disappointing day at the office once again and 2 things that really annoyed me today was the Club Captain taking off his shirt and throwing it at the dugout after being sent off!! WTF was that about?!
The second thing that annoyed me was a Witton player being cheered for being subbed! Yes the kid didnt have a great game but to hear people shouting that he was S**t as he was going off was not pleasant! Im sure someone will return a comment about paying the money so entitled to say what we want but tonight i spoke to one of our leading players who said that it affects the whole team morale to hear such things!
We need to pull together now, not just the fans but everyone connected to Witton Albion, we are going through an awful spell right now and whilst everyones falling out were never going to recover!

Anyone know where Chadwick and Roberts were? 2 key players

Simmo tweeted that he interviewed Carl and he said Gary has played his last game for the club and Chadwick was missing due to illness

a sad state of affairs at the moment

My fear is that most decent players are settled with clubs at this stage of the season, we are lingering just above the drop zone and out of the two lucrative cup competitions so it will be extremely difficult to attract players. My only hope is that Carl has the contacts but please No more youth players.

Interviewed well though, which we all know is the main thing you look for in a manager.

Yep we are not very good at the old interview process are We ! I hope Carl has the ability and the contacts to actually deliver not just talk a good game, time will tell I guess.

Season over and we are only just into November!!Absolute disgrace in my 57 years of watching the club this is without doubt the worst Witton team I’ve ever seen. On Saturdays display I exempt Jon Dawson from that remark as the lad ran and covered every blade of grass trying to get us going. The rest especially some of our senior players need to look at themselves this has been going on too long now and the axe needs to fall on some of them.
As for our new manager what kind of tactics is he employing playing one up front at home. I hope Carl works out but at the moment its not looking good though I’ve heard rumours he does have players lined up to bring in. It beggars belief that we’ve declined so rapidly in the last 18 months so much so that the NW counties league now beckons. Its no good bleating on about having no money or saying at least we have our own ground. We are in serious danger here that our tenants will eventaully become co owners. Even less fashionable clubs like Prescot, Burscough, Kendall Clitheroe etc are doing better than us and surely their budgets must be wafer thin!!
The only bright lights for the club at the moment are we have a commercial manager who has at least got us a decent sponsership deal and a Director in John Salmon who at least has some energy. Add to that the fantastic work being done by Noel I’ve never seen the social club more vibrant and I’m sure the clubs coffers might be seeing some benefit from this hopefully.
I don’t know where we go from here except try to bite my tongue and get behind the new manager and the board but I’m finding it very difficult to be positive at the moment. One scrappy 1 nil win might just shake us out of our current lethergy and get the ball rolling. I am also not very happy to learn that our players only seem to be training one night this week and if this is true its sacrilage as I would have thought practice on the training ground might help. It beggars belief if this is true!!
I’m hoping our new manager can make 3 maybe 4 signings this week we need a centre back a left back, a good midfield player and a big striker pronto and unload some of the dross we are paying now.
I think WHS post where he said we’ve perhaps taken our eye off the playing side to get the off field things right rings true. So now lets move forward with this and give it a go. Personally I would like to see us going for a mid table place building some foundations for next season on the most economic budget we can. I don’t expect much more than that this season and if that takes the pressure off all concerned then thats fine.
WE as long suffering fans have put up with a load of dross for the last 2 years it cannot continue and if we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot we will go down further. Mark has recently been seen doing Bruce Forsyth impressions in the social club maybe he could now do a Winston Churchill one and try and lift morale. Its hard I know but Marks strength is his abilty at public speaking and maybe he needs to win some people over once again so maybe a forum type thing in the offing again? Happy to be shot down in flames as usual but after 57 years of supporting this club I’m beginning to get used to it!! I don’t know why CJ always say UTA at the end of his posts so UTA At least Colin knows what he’s talking about!!

P.S.
I actually did the unthinkable on Sunday and watched our tenants. Thank god they were beaten but I can tell you that Stocksbridge had the best goalie I’ve seen this season wish he was on our playing staff and a certain Mr Gannon really impressed me in the dug out even though his team lost!! Rest assured I won’t be making a regualr habit of it but I just wanted to see how the other half live!!

MONA I believe that we would have achieved a mid table place with Dundas. With a bit of support to sort out the dead wood and sort the discipline side out I think we’d have done OK this season and built on a promotion pushing side for next season. After all we’re in a far worse position now than when he was here, we’re heading rapidly towards the bottom of the table with no players

Does anyone agree or is it full of Dundas haters on here?

With ‘hind sight’ you can say that the Chairman’s last 4 or 5 major decisions have been incorrect. At the time I agreed with all. Appointing Sheehan, taking a chance on Sully, giving Tuck a 2nd chance, sharing with Vics short term and appointing Scott. All ultimately backfired in some way to leave us in what I believe is our worst position in history.

That said, I fully support the Chairman. I think after sticking with Sully to the bitter end last term, he felt getting rid of Scott, ‘early’ was a lesson learnt from last season. I agree, on the face of it Scott was at least getting some mixed results (better than what we now have). But dicipline and off field incidents were mentioned. I don’t know the story and can not comment.

I hear Scott is a decent lad, man motivator, although some fans never saw that and in his day a decent player around the Stoke area. He was appointed on the back of a North West Counties League title, fair enough. Mid table finish with Norton in Evo South albeit on probable limited budget was, let’s say OK. The thing that probably whetted the Chairman’s lips was the FA Cup run. Amazing for a team of Nortons stature. But look at the teams they beat. Runcorn Town, ok they beat us but that is hardly praise! Then in the 4th qual, a Northern league team away after a replay. Again, 2 great results to get to the 1st round proper but not ground breaking victories. Having said that I do admire that Norton dream story but it tainted the Chairman’s decision to appoint him in my view. I supported Scott’s appointment by the way.

2 things worry me. The split in the Support base and a Crowd of 153 on Saturday. I say this from a far living in the London area now. I haven’t watched Witton in 3 years.

We have the or did have the 4th highest average attendance in the league, a brilliant new commercial deal, tenant income from Vic’s and from all reports a vibrant Social club. So as we hit rock bottom today, if things don’t improve soon, then the Chairman really does need to answer questions. The only way is up? The final question is, if the current Chairman doesn’t swing it by the end of Nov. who comes in. The answer, there is no one. I hope Mark pulls through.

PS Adwavesdinner…are you Scott Dundass? If so, good luck at Alsager. No hard feelings

Windsor, a good post I agree with most of what you say except your opening line, honestly to just label the last 4 or 5 of the Chairman’s decisions incorrect I believe to be a massive understatement, I honest can’t think of one good decision he’s made on the football side of the club, every manager he’s picked has been very very poor for many different reasons. Just look who has been appointed under his tenner at the club, only one has been any kind of success and lets be frank he was appointed by default after being turned down more than once. I truly believe he’s a nice man, he loves and thrives on the social side of being a club and league chairman and wants the best for Witton but the truth is he hasn’t a clue about football, just stand and listen to him shouting at games… not great.

It is interesting to note that 1874 Northwich FC playing at Winsford got 216 through the gate on a wet and cold Tuesday night with the Champions League on TV.

Also interesting that it has been mentioned that Tuck turned 1874 down. Surprised your club tried to sign him Major… Interesting indeed

216 is not a crowd to be proud of.

Don’t think too many people have BT Sports tbf.

Other than the programme, I never had any contact with him, and he was friendly enough to me. Others have spoken about dressing room unrest, poor discipline and lax training though, so regardless of whether Pritch was promised this or that, or whatever Carl does subsequently, it seems like at the very least the decision to let Scott go was the correct one.

He didn’t, because we didn’t. And we wouldn’t. Don’t take forum gossip for Gospel

Woody.

It isn’t bad for a Dog and Duck team but it was more than Wittons last gate.
