Witton Albion vs Romulus

3rd in the league following today’s results.

Correction - 4th in the league. The Evo-Stik League website got Spalding United’s result wrong.

Another terrific display, full of energy, skill and pace - very hard to play against even with players missing we were all over them like a rash wear them down and cut em to pieces with loads of ability just great to watch, my MOM - Bauress drove most of the attacking play today and second half Devine was just that. Hope Tames in jury is not too bad because He is playing so well, we just cannot keep losing players at this rate. UTA

Excellent result, well done to all the team, roll on Tuesday for another big game!

Well done lads, a fine display and another three well deserved points towards safety. Good referee for a change, let the game flow when possible and seemed to make the right decisions. Romulus keeper was excellent and kept the score to single figures.Nice to not be worried when we get a pen as often happened in seasons past, thanks Brad. Shame crowd wasn’t more but today it was a case of quality over quantity every Wittoner I saw was a perfect physical specimen. Can’t comment on Romulus fans as there weren’t any…veryangry

Sorry to miss such an emphatic win but the Albs already have my entrance fee as a season ticket holder! See you all on Tuesday when I will have to pay!! Well done lads, “ONWARD AND UPWARDS”!!!

Fantastic result but at a price.

A lot of people have been asking me why Toll has been on the bench lately, and I think this has been due the increasing performances of Steven Tames as he has gained regular match fitness. I hope his injury is not to severe!

Another very good performance, bags of energy and drive as usual. Their keeper kept it down to single figures and Bradley Bauress was MoM for me he never stopped and was a class above.

Agree with TT Steve Tames has been excellent since he came in and I hope he makes a speedy recovery. We are not having much luck with injuries atm. UTA

Their keeper was superb. Would have been double figures if it wasn’t for him

Another clean sheet to boot

When you play at such a high tempo and intensity you have to accept you will have injuries.

Really dissapointed about 2 things with this but before you all jump down my throat let me explain-

  1. Dissapointed that Steve Tames got injured. This lad has now started to be really eefective and this is a real blow for us with our wafer thin squad. Obviously this gives other people a chance the likes of Toli and Noony so lets hope they step up to it. All the best to Steve for a speedy recovery
  2. 214 is a measly crowd. I’m really upset at this. For the stay away fans and those people who have issues with the club your really missing out and cutting off you nose to spite you face. These lads are pulling up trees at the moment. This is the best team I’ve seen since the heady days of the early 90’s. They are quite simply brilliant the footy is a joy to watch so a gate of 214 is totally ridiculous for a team this good. So I appeal to anyone who supports Witton to get down and forget any diffrences you have and SUPPORT YOUR CLUB. I appreciate we all have other stuff going on I do myself but I bank on making at least 95% of home games and around 80% of away games. For gods sake if we all at least turn up and pay are gate money and its enjoyable too with these lads whats wrong with that? Tottal ludicrous that we are where we are near the top of the league, Still in a major cup and play fantastic foorball yet we still only pull in 214 fans its pathetic!!
Sorry rant over onwards and upwards hoping its on tonight UTA!!

Well said. I missed Saturday but I have a season ticket so the club lost no money but I will be there tonight when I have to pay to get in!!
WHS.

Oh you’ve got a season ticket!? Why didn’t you say that before?
Oh hang on…

I think the gate was poor, so no disagreement there.

However, I think we need to put this into a context of non-league gates generally and the time of the year. Xmas parties, concerts, Xmas shopping, Manchester Markets, England Australia live on the telly and so the list goes on. Its a sad indictment of our age that the football isn’t the first thing on many folk’s “must do” list but has fallen to the level of “will go if no better offer received”

I’m afraid one of the biggest problems we have is that so many people in the area would much rather travel to Manchester or Liverpool for their football than watch the local team. Nothing we can do about that because people are free to choose where they go but it does impact on us.

My wife does, not come before an England v Australia Rugby Union match so NO football match is going to. Sorry but in my case that is just how it is.
WHS.

WHS that rugby comment wasn’t aimed at you - there are lots of folks around the town who support our local rugby teams and who would rather spend time going to a major international game, or in front of the telly watching the game for free , rather than pay too watch non-league football.

That said, if you missed tonight;s game at WP you really did miss an absolute treat

I was there!! What a,fantastic fight back it was. As a life long Wittoner I am used to US leading 2-0 and then losing not the other way around!.
Strangely the last two games,I have been at have cost me money despite my season ticket but I don’t mind. I may not be a football fan per se but I am a committed Wittoner.
