Ref was definitely poor, and my one thought on consolidation would have been : BRING DANNY ROBERTS ON !!!
Thought the lads gave every thing and scored 2 cracking goals, but with Hare in goal the defence looks uncomfortable so I really do hope the mgt rethink that decision or it could cost us the title.
That result was a bit of a let off for Shaw £ane.Should have been two points ahead of them but for a one sided ref and lack of a decent keeper. If Spalding have that ref in the play offs, they should go all the way.
Why on earth would anyone rest their goalkeeper??? There has to be more to it than this surely. If Roberts was injured fair enough but it just doesn’t make sense if he wasn’t.
Gutted tonight…at 2-0 we were comfortable and in total control. It is difficult to criticise the management for their fantastic efforts this season but to leave the leagues best goalkeeper sat on the bench is puzzling to say the very least. Like somebody previously mentioned there must be more to it.
We have to trust our management team about Danny being on the bench there must be good reason behind what seems a strange decision. We could have won this game and we could have lost it too I’d have to praise our lads in the circumstances of all these games Prince picking up an injury on Tuesday was really unfortunate and Will Jones could have won it tonight but it just wouldn’t go in he was absolutely gutted but we can still do this heads up lads and go again on Saturday COME ON THE ALBIOOOOON!!
Echo what others have said, why is the best keeper in the league sitting on the bench??? A keeper does not need to be rested! He was on the bench Tue which we thought was to be rested for tonight, was gobsmacked when he was on the bench again tonight. that decision has probably cost us the title!
why didn’t Carl use the subs tonight?? some of the lads were knackered and we’d gone from 2- 0 up to 2-2 so why not bring the subs on??
The management have done a tremendous job this season but I’m struggling with their poor decisions lately
I am going to bed angry and frustrated
Roberts wasnt rested or injured We were told but “was not in favour” !!! Bonkers indeed ! A 9 out of 10 keeper most games great shot stopper, makes good decisions, great handling, confident, imposing and always looks assured as does the defence when He is in the nets, His understudy Hare meanwhile is just a shot stopper ( as long as its not too high ) I dont care what the reasons are but it really needs sorting out PDQ. If we are involved in the playoffs or for the SL game I for one and Id say 99% of the Witton crowd last night would want Roberts back in the nets-it was the biggest conversation by a mile last night. UTA
I wouldn’t worry. At least when you go to Shaw Lane you know you need to win as oppose to them thinking a draw will do. Only one winner when that happens.
It is still in your hands - win out and it`s all yours!!!
We could draw at Shaw Lane then beat Vics 10-0 and take the title!! Seriously, it was a strange decision to leave out Roberts but Hare did keep a clean sheet on Tuesday night. Managers make decisions, we just watch, going by the position we are in I would say our manager has got most decisions right! The ref was awful but asking semi-pros to play and win game after game with virtually no rest in between was always going to be a BIG ask. Maybe Newcastle and Kidsgrove can do us favours in the coming few days, who knows, we might lose at Shaw Lane and still win the title, if not and it has to be the play-offs so be it, we might set a record as the only team ever to get 100 points and not go up!!! I have faith in these lads, they have not gone through the trial and tribulations of this season to let it go easily and they WILL take us up I am sure.
WHS.
He may have kept a clean sheet on Tuesday but it was not down to quality defensive work, it was bloody good luck to be honest, I just dont get why we would take a HUGE gamble at this point. !!!
After the Rugby game I would have thought the manager 's mind would have been clear regarding the goalkeeper Two points thrown away
Sitting here on my break with a cup of tea and digestive trying to reflect on last night’s game. What on earth was Carl thinking about last night? He had a bench full of fit and able subs that he could and should have used. Have no idea what his rationale is about playing Hare over Roberts. This was an amazing opportunity to go top and put pressure in Shaw Lane and he messed up. The manager not the players! If he’s reading this then we would like to know what your tactics were last night.
Shaw Lane will defend for their.lives on Tuesday, they know that we’ll never catch them on goal difference. And I for one am not fancying the play offs one bit
you’ve got to get a grip people,2 months a go we were’nt even in the play off places and now we’re level on points with shaw lane.the manager has done a great job and to start slagging him off at this crucial part of the season is comical.
at the end of the day it,s Carls job to pick the team . we as fans have our own ideas who we would like to see playing but as we are on the same points as shaw lane I think Carl has done a great job this season . Ok we could have won last night but thats football , we were poor tuesday but won and nobody was complaining . Still think we will win at shaw lane and win the league by beating vics . uta
Nobody is slagging anybody off. Fans are just questioning a certain selection and the forum is the correct place to do this. The management have done a remarkable job and the group of players he has at his disposal are a credit to the club whenever they pull the shirt on. However, for whatever reason the decision not to play his number 1 keeper cost us the game last night and after the shift the players put in last night it is simply frustrating plain and simple. The lads will go again giving there all on Saturday but Roberts must play if we have any chance of the title.
Just read this on Guardian website
Meanwhile Macauley has confirmed to the Guardian that goalkeeper Danny Roberts is available, and is not nursing an injury.
He said: “We’ve had to be sensible, and look after players as best we can so they don’t pick up injuries.
“We’ve managed to make a handful of changes in each game, which was the plan.
“I think that’s helped lads, and they’ve had a breather where possible.
“Matty [Devine] is a good example of that; he’s had to be careful.
Good post Johno
I fully understand that managers have their favourites, you’ve only got to look at Dundas for a prime example of that but it is IMPERATIVE that we play our strongest team. If you Postyred and WO disagree with that then that’s your prerogative
I’d have Roberts in too. Hare has done well, but Roberts is the main man. Hopefully he’s back tomorrow.
CJ you’re there each week why not ask Carl?

Yes but what if Danny had been in goal and Carl had made three substitutions and we’d have LOST the game, what then?? Get a flippin grip!
Criticism of the management over team selection especially during this fixture pile up is both bizarre and unwarranted. Get a grip and get behind the team. UTA!
