Workington AFC vs Witton Albion (FAT. 1Q).

FT. Farsley Celtic 1-1 South Shields.

Tuesday’s scheduled Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture is Postponed.

Good thing Tuesday game cancelled we would be lucky to have three figures attendance

Talking to a Workington fan on Facebook, Witton were the better side for the first 25 minutes and could’ve been 3-0 up but didn’t take their chances. Had two in the first six minutes apparently but if they don’t go in we know what can happen.

A very strange game indeed. We dominated the first 30 minutes of the game, and could have been 2 or 3 goals up, but their No 4 kept them in the game with some fine defending. Then, in just a 4 minute spell, they scored 3 goals from nowhere! Their No 10 started running things upfront for them, and I was told he had scored 7 times in the last 3 games for Workington. We played with 3 at the back today, which I believe is a good tactic, but I am not sure we have the right players for this tactic.

Can’t say too much as I wasn’t at the game however I was surprised Prince didnt start or Wilson who I personally feel has been unjustifiably demoted to the bench. Out of both major cup competitions now and the chance to bag some prize money. Is going to be that more difficult to boost the gates now.

I think Wilson has been struggling with an injury to his ribs but played on Tuesday night and wasn’t involved today. It looks like he might be needed shortly as it looks like we will be losing Brown through his booking today.

Fortunately, it is a long time to the next home game!!

After today’s result, we’ve now got a blank date where they might re arrange a game for 11th November but we’ll know in due course.

No fixture congestion this season sadly.

Agree with other posts, very surprised and disappointed at the selection and the result was no real surprise. Hedley over Haywood why ? and I never like Hopley and Jones together up front far too similar and leaving McKenna on the bench when Devine is out again why ? .
Season pretty much over now sadly (apart from the excitement of the minor cups ). It would take a massive improvement to reach the playoffs ! I would like to see us trying a few things out now re formation and maybe trying to pick up a player or two to improve us now and for next season. UTA

A long way to go in the league, we could easily make the play offs and we could easily be relegated! What we need to do is give the team our wholehearted support. Ordinary seasons are the norm for most clubs and can be the precursor to massive success, let us hope this is the case this, season.
