Worksop v Witton

And that shot of Thornley’s was well off target until it luckily fell in front of Peers as he was stumbling into the box!

Makes you wonder at times whether people watch the game or not, Pritch’s pull back was superb, he was at a stretch to reach the ball but the lay-off was fantastic. I was stood about 10 ft away from it and believe me it was no fluke!

Sound familiar?

I hope Witton have written to Worksop to complain because it is ridiculous. The Chairman of Worksop just didn’t seem concerned by it.

Taken from the Worksop Forum today

As you are aware, there has been a group of young supporters following Worksop who have been intent on causing trouble both at home and away grounds in recent weeks. Their actions have caused offence and spoiled the game for many other people.

Worksop Town Football Club needs young supporters and wishes to encourage families to come along to the ground – these people are, after all, the fans of the future. We do not, however, need people who are offensive to other supporters (both home and away) and who cause disturbances at the ground.

The club has made a number of attempts to be reasonable with those concerned, but our pleas have been ignored and we have now lost patience. We believe that it is a few members of the group who are causing the problems, one of whom was ejected from the ground on Sat. The rest of the fans involved wish to support the team in the right manner. Having identified the ringleaders the club would like to make it clear that those concerned have been banned from attending games at Sandy Lane. The police have been informed and they have stated that they intend having a presence at the Boxing Day game against Stamford in order to avoid any possible problems. This is a great shame – one of the things that we all love about non-league football is being able to form friendships with the opposition fans and not have to worry about segregation issues.

The club will not hesitate to take further action against anyone intimidating, abusing or using foul language towards genuine supporters of any club. We do not want and cannot afford for Worksop Town to have a bad reputation as the vast majority of our supporters are great ambassadors for the club. We need to be increasing our fan base and providing assurance that supporters can attend our matches in safety.

The club appeals to the sincere young supporters to consider their actions and act responsibly. You are in a situation where you can distance yourselves from the trouble-makers and show them that they are not welcome at Sandy Lane.

Dont think they could say anything fairer than that.

I’m sure Greg will be relieved… ::slight_smile:

He has been getting the stains out of his sheepskin all week!!! ;D

I would have taken them all on! :wink:
