180th.... and rising

http://www.tonykempster.co.uk/attcomp.htm only shows a slight rise on last season thanks to the games we had against Telford but to still show an improvement means we are heading in the right direction, an awful lot of reds in the +/- column

For a realistic view you have to remove the Telford games - all good news!

Up 2 places to 178… without hardly any away supporters yesterday, average has now risen past last years average which includes the Telford games! well done all lets get to 400 average before the new year

God, :o which very, very sad person has compiled those stats on that link, you must be sad even to look at them,

well it passed half an hour ::slight_smile:

Folks

The attendance position is much much better than suggested!!!

For an accurate analysis you have to compare the opening 8 home league games last season with this season. Our average then was 265 compared to this season’s 386!!! That is a whopping 45% + increase on home gates for the same period. You have to take the Telford game out of the averages. The other factor that is interesting is that we have played three of the same sides this season to last season in the first 8 games and our crowds are significantly higher in each one!

Ossett brought practically no supporters yesterday (there were two people behind their goal when I looked)! The fact our crowd was nearly double shows the real improvement the club is making. We have to keep this going - drag your family, neighbours, colleagues and mates down to Wincham Park. The team are 10 points clear and now is the time to fill the ground!

06/07 Season;
Ossett 220
Guiseley 271
Kendal 261
Ashton 239
Prescot 216
Burscough 414
Gateshead 278
Fleetwood 220

Total 2,119 which divided by 8 equals 265

07/08 Season;
Marine 377
Stamford 353
Eastwood 405
Matlock 393
Prescot 362 (146 more than last season)
Kendal 339 (78 more than last season)
Hednesford 447
Ossett 410 (190 more than last season or in other words nearly double)!

Total 3,086 which divided by 8 equals 386

Average up 121 - 45% increase on last season!!!

That was my point Rabbit, although not as succinctly put as yourself, what is absolutly fantastic is the fact that even including Telford we are up on last season, which you have to take into account because we won’t be getting an away following in the league like we did for those games so every extra fan is important throughout the year, hopefully with a good Trophy run which always sparks interest the trend will continue.

I said at the time Stu that a £1 increase would not put people off! We have a superb squad of footballers and this costs money.

So an extra £1 each from 265 people (last season’s average) = £265

An extra £9 x 121 people (the increase in supporters) = £1,089

This means that gate receipts for the same 8 games are up around £1,354 per game or around £10,832 for the same period!!!

The target has to be not to get more money from the same group of fans but to get ‘new money’ from more supporters. The operating costs don’t particularly increase whether there are 300 people in the ground or 450! OK as it grows there may be an increase in matchday staff costs but these are easily covered by the improved revenues and are minimal. Every extra 10 people, 20 people, 30 people count!!!

Bang on Picko, including Telford we are more than capable of achieving way beyond the average. Telford was a big pay day last year as were the play-off games, making it more important to increase the ‘bread and butter’ crowds for games like Ossett, Ashton and the likes. It has been fantastic that new faces and old faces are coming to the last 2 home games, plus the junior numbers are increasing (which has impact for hopefully years to come). If we can average of 400+ for the season it will be a tremendous effort.

Don’t suppose it is the new gatemen that are attracted extra speccies ? ;D ;D

I think your assumption is quite right Eli ;D
