1874 Northwich v. Witton Albion

Well a 6 pointer if there ever was one, hard to predict anything with our inconsistency and playing at Barnton is not usually great, even though last year was! Team wise I’d go with

Martin
Lowton, Harrison, Hitchcox, Kennerley
Newell, Fogerty, Williams
Brazel
Koral, Hughes

Not sure Duckworth or Rokka have done enough to start and Jackson probably deserves a start but trying to pick a team that will work and hopefully win, Assume Pope and Lawrie injured.

Good luck lads UTA

Bench, Rokka, Duckworth, Jackson, Roberts, Grewal

Boxing Day signals 'derby day" for most non league clubs and for Witton it means an encounter with 1874 Northwich.

A year ago today the two sides met at Townfield Lane in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture and Witton came away with a comfortable 4-1 win.

Two goals from Connor Hughes, a goal each from Elliot Rokka and Harry McGee secured the points for Jon Macken’s team with former Albion midfielder Matt Woolley’s spot-kick proving nothing more than consolation for 1874.

The return meeting at the U Lock It Stadium later in the season saw a much tighter game with Elliot Rokka deciding the outcome in Witton’s favour.

1874 have found the season difficult so far but surprisingly saw the departure of joint managers Paul Bowyer and Wayne Goodison.

The currently find themselves second bottom in the table but only three points away from safety going into the game.

Their home record has seen them win two, draw two and lose five of nine games played and Albion will be looking to add to that poor form today.

Witton’s form has been inconsistent this season so the game gives them the opportunity to improve on that but, they won’t be taking the opposition lightly.

Saturday’s defeat was a disappointment but they have to put that behind them and they have the perfect chance to start putting a run together.

Kick off at Townfield Lane is 3pm.

A very good 3 points but scrappy game to be honest, pitch and ref were poor but 2 good goals win it for the Albion!

A decent crowd over half from Witton I reckon, our win sees them rooted at the bottom and I’ll be surprised if they escape.

From a Witton view I’m still not impressed with a front 3 that does not score enough nor protect the back 4.

My mom Harry Brazel great goal and worked his socks off.
