Witton’s U21’s Development Squad are in cup action on Sunday afternoon when they take on local neighbours 1874 Northwich in the League Challenge Cup. League results have been inconsistent so far but performances have generally been good. The game is an opportunity to progress in the competition and at the same time, claim “bragging” rights against a local team who will themselves be looking to progress further. Should the game be drawn, the tie will be decided on penalties. Kick off at Moss Farm is 5pm.

1874 Northwich win 5-4 on penalties.

Former Witton striker Kyle Phipps gave 1874 the lead on 53 minutes but Albion equalised with 20 minutes to go through Franck Kangue. Albion were reduced to ten men on 74 minutes but there was no further scoring in normal time. So the tie went to a penalty shoot-out with 1874 prevailing and progressing through to the Second Round where they will be away to Widnes-based St Michael’s D.H.F.C.
