1992 Re-Union 4th April

Looks like Picko will be coming. Now that will put PRESSURE on the catering:laugh:

Again, i would urge anyone who hasn’t already purchased a ticket to make their way down on the night. This is the sort of event that can only really be done once, so it is vital that we make the most of it when the opportunity is there.

Chad has sorted out pretty much the whole squad from the Trophy Final, so bring your Wembley program and get it signed, or get your photo taken with a former hero!!

Howsabout digging out all that clobber and regalia - retro 1992 Les Frogs gear, Flags, scarves, hats etc etc.

Neil, Can you possibly get the relevant items out of the shop, including the framed photo of Lutkie’s goal that I lent please?

I’ve got a flag, but it got a fag burn in it at the reception at Memorial Hall :frowning:

Also have a hat that i got signed by the players after the Cheshire Cup Final v Macc (my dad killed me for running on to the pitch at the end of the game!!!).

I have not not managed to buy a ticket but can I buy it on the night please??

Sounds par for the course Robbo!! That whole long week-end was a bit of a blur for me, bit like the 1960’s eh?

Pleased to report that I’ve at last managed to speak to Mickey Halliday today (thanks to Jim Vince & by no small means Mike Mackenzie) and he’s definitely up for it and may well be bringing one or two other Albion players from the past as his guests.

Also can confirm that thanks to Karl Thomas, Steve McNeilis who we all tried our hardest to get in contact with for Pritch’s testimonial/Museum opening in 2002, will be coming along.

Keith Mason’s even driving down from Cumbria to be here so surely much more local supporters have no real; excuse for re-living the most magic of all seasons.

I’ve managed to dig out a 1992 flag, along with 40 odd programmes from the 1991-92 season.

I’ve also got 2 photo albums I’ll bring down, along with the video and recorder of some of the off the field happenings that weekend.

I’ll most probably bring them down on Thursday night.

Jeff

I’ll dig my old scrap books out!! Think they span 90 - 93ish.

There is plenty of room for people to come down and pay on the night. Myself and Greg will be on the door.

One last push for this; let’s make the most of it whilst we are still able to get the players down. This might be our last opportunity to re-live it!!

DOn’t regret not making the most of it…

Well said Robbo, this can only ever be done once, don’t miss your chance!

Totally agree with the lads who are plugging this so strongly. If you are a true Witton supporter and you are over 25 you just gotta be there to see one of the greatest teams that ever turned out for us. If you are under 25 but over 18 you should still come and marvel at true legends being in the one room. For those younger members if you are not sure come along anyway and we’ll explain to you who each player was and just how good they were. To get to a final of a national competiton takes some doing and these lads did it. They were not overawed when they played in the final either and but for a couple of top drawer saves by Scott Barrett the Colchester goalkeeper we might have got a result. The goal we scored was the best of the match and even though we were beaten I was proud of these lads that day and they deserve this event to be well attended.
Like Robbo and Co I urge all Wittoners to turn out for this one as its 1 chance in a lifetime to see all these lads in the one room.
You’ll all want the present team to turn up for a reunion in 15-20 years time after they win this league in 3 weeks time!
C’mon The Albion say ooh arg Karl Thomas say ooh argh Karl Thomas (scored the best goal I’ve ever seen at Wycombe, I’m sure Martin O’neill won’t agree with me!!). Absolute class!!

Great post Mona!

I was only 10 when my Grandad took me to Wembley to see the Albs and had 1 hell of a day! A few coaches didn’t make it to Wincham Park in the morning so they sent Brown and Dirty Yellow colour Chester double decker buses. Being so young I thought it would be great to sit at the back of the bus, even now I remember how uncomfortable it was! My Grandad used to take me to Witton when I was a young lad and it’s such a shame he isn’t with us now to join us at the re-union, he was a big Wittoner. The whole day out was great and I even enjoyed breaking down on the way home! We didn’t get back until the very small hours, but it’s one of the stories that I can tell now that made the day! I can’t wait for tomorrow night, it will be great to see the squad of '92 and talk Wembley for a couple of hours, fantastic!

Anybody else got Wembley stories they want to share?

I always remember going to pick my Dad’s mate Joe up from Marston, and then driving to Memorial Hall to get the coach down to Wembley. As we were boarding the coach my Dad realised he’d left the tickets at home so he had to rush back and get them!!

A potential nightmare was avoided at the last possible second!!!

My one abiding memory was going down in the coach and stopping at Frankley Services on the M5 just below West Bromwich. Got off the coach and there is a sea of red white scarfs with Witton albion on them. The first person I saw was of course you’ve guessed it Baggie!! Had to be being near West Brom!! So overcome with the importance and emotion of the occassion that we actually hugged each other in full view on the car park. Thank god Steve and I are still big mates thats what the club is about. Strangely enough I was on Frankley services a few weeks back swapping over my lads car for mine after I’d fixed it and I was telling him about stopping there on the way to Wembley. My one regret is that I never took Nick with me because we thought he was too young at 8 to go. How wrong I was and how guilty I feel now! Nick wishes he could be there tonight but can’t get off work in time in Wycombe to get up here. How ironic that, Wycombe the scene of arguably the best goal I’ve ever seen scored by Karl Thomas from a Colin Rose cross!!
Can’t wait for tonight to do some more reminiscing!! Brilliant!!

Can’t let this one go after Chris has questioned my sexuality, it was just pure emotion - honest. lasting memory for me on that memorable run was the semi final at Marine, and me, like a dick, tripping over the goal netting celebrating one of the goals, the scene was only captured by the BBC and shown the following Monday night.
Gutted, I’m not there tonight, early journey tomorrow and all that, have a good noght chaps.

How ‘early’ can be classed as ‘too early’ to miss this tonight?!

Can someone post the “Road to Wembley” as I can only remember going to Wycombe, Marine and Colchester. I’m sure I went to all the games but for the life of me cannot remember anything pre Wycome

Cant remember much from that day, i was only 9! I know we were sat in a different block with about 5 other people from all the other Witton fans, and our tickets had Stoke City FC printed on them, dont know why,my dad must have bought them off a tout!!
And when the players did a lap of honour at the end I climbed the fence and was waving my Wembley flag and Joey Palladino thought I was giving it to him and he tried to take it so I snatched it back!!

Im due to finish work at half 8 tonight so ill try and make it down but think ill be struggling.

From memory…

Billingham Synthonia H Draw, won the replay?
Aylesbury United H 1 v 0
Stalybridge H 1 v 0 (Heesom?)
Wycome A 2 - 1 (Lutkevitch & Thomas)
Marine H 2 v 2 (Alford 2)
A 4 v 1 (McCLuskie, Halliday…)
Colchester @ Wembley 1 v 3 (Lutkevitch)

We had a game earlier on against a team from the Northeast. I think it was either
Whitby or Whitley, and I think big Jim McCluskey got sent off in the 1st 5 mins. Can’t remember the final score, but it was something like 4-2. I have took a lot of memrobelia upto the club last night, including most of the programmes, so we will be able to check tonight.
