2 New Signings

The deadline for the season was 17:00 tonight, to sign-on any players.

With 10mins to spare, we completed the signing of Ashley Dunn on a permanent basis.

We have also completed the signing of striker Saul Otobo from Vauxhall Motors. Saul is a Londoner who recently arrived in the North West from the capital, where he played for Gillingham and Charlton Athletic.

Fantastic News

Excellent news!
Ashley is a key part of our squad.
Obviously we don’t know Saul yet but he’ll make a change from Scousers:)

Delighted that we have secured Ashley Dunn’s services on a permanent deal. I think he has been an outstanding player in recent weeks and long may that continue. Well done to all involved in retaining him. Fleetwood must have a 'kin amazing line up if there are prepared to let someone this talented go.

Made up that we have signed Ashley. He has been great this season. A warm welcome to Saul too.

Good news, well done Ash (and those who have worked hard to sign him).

First job is to put half a dozen ‘commanding’ performances in and to keep us in this league.

Saul looks interesting, going to pose questions over the best front two Gary’s selects. Look forward to seeing him play.

Disappointed that we didn’t sign any centre halves!B)

Very good news, gives us a real boost for the run in.

Good article on the guardian site

We’ll be alright chad, we’ve got Boothy and Schwarz.

Having read the article on Dunn on the Guardian website and the news story of the Fleetwood Town website, I think Fleetwood deserve a lot of praise for the way they have handled the release of the player.

Their chairman has made a number of very open and honest statements on their reasons behind letting him go and I think that clearly their manager and chairman also must have communicated closely. Whilst they would most certainly have considered Ash an asset of their own, the fact that he was unlikely to get regular appearances in front of their other midfielders meant that he was not guaranteed to play that often.

The decision to release him to allow him to play for Witton works for the player (who wants to play regularly and has enjoyed being at the club), it works for Witton (who have signed a very good player at this level) and it works for Fleetwood (who have understandably insisted on a healthy sell-on clause).

Through Gary (and other officials at the clubs) we appear to have built a good relationship with Fleetwood and this can hopefully be of future benefit to both clubs. All concerned should be praised for achieving this and in particular Fleetwood for the handling of this situation.
