First i would like to take time out to say well done to Nigel Deeley and also good luck on his role in the witton hotseat. Maybe he could be the man to take witton back to where they should be and if not further.
I actually only started to watch the albion in the back end of last season but 11 games later i was sold … what a club!! passion … great football … good food and cheap beer!! everything a good non league club should have.
It was disappointing that the lads fell at the last hurdle but it was the fans i felt most sorry for.
I personally think next season could be one of the most exciting if not difficult for the albion but having only watched the last few games of last i would like to know off a few ‘hardcore’ fans of what we should be expecting next season and if they think nigel should be doing anything differently to what jim vince did for the club!!
I do understand however that we have lost a few players … actually a whole team but if last seasons team was managed to be assembled at all then surely over time we can assemble a squad as good … if not better than the last??
I feel that we do have chance next season if we can put last season behind us!!
nlh4eva welcome to the board! Considered opinion is always welcome.
I think the conclusion to last season was a sickening blow and the reverberations are still being felt throughout the club. However, the kind of fans we have aren’t the sort to sit around feeling sorry for themselves, most are already raring to go for the next campaign.
Yes it disappointing to lose practically a whole squad, but Nigel is a clever man and a very astute coach (he also has a huge wang). I think given time he will assemble a very good team, probably more balanced than JV’s teams. But it will be important to realise that the budget will be reduced and our expectations should not be too high at this stage.
Next season will have it’s ups and downs, but two things I can guarantee are that it will be a bloody good laugh and big gaz will get his ar5e out at some point!!
I agree it should be a great laugh!!
also with teams like FC United and Leigh Genisis there will some great away days!
The expectations, as you mentioned, shouldnt be too high and with that in mind maybe we could have a crack at a FA cup run?
I think decent runs in the Cup and Trophy would be fantastic. There will be really great away days at the likes of Whitby, Kendal, Bradford (plenty of banter in that one) Boston, Ilkeston, Eastwood… Well all of them actually!!!
Should be a good campaign then and i’ll look forward to seeing you guys through the season! actually saying that i could be down on saturday for this fund raiser!
 not long to go now, does anyone know when the fixtures come out? so many exciting away games to come im gonna plan my trips carefully and let the train take the strain as often as poss! ossett away is the first il be looking at as its 5 mins from my house:) but to anyone who doesnt go to away games then make this the season to start as there so much more fun than the home games! maybe with the exception of frickley:( as we say in yorkshire im chompin at the bit! roll on august:laugh:
Should be early july for the fixtures. Been a delay because of the messing around with Halifax, Boston etc. I was looking forward to 16th june, as they would have been out then if it wasnt for all that. Mind you i suppose no rush as we dont have 11 players yet!!!
I would also urge anybody who doesnt already to travel away when they can its great, I never look forward to a home match half as much as an away!! There is normally a coach running from the ground (if you live in Northwich you may aswell do that). But me and my mate from Manchester go on the train, as Piccadilly station is on our doorstep and of course BEER IS ALLOWED ON THE TRAIN!!! Its a great crack! If anyone ever wants to join us on the train next season give us a shout
Should have a few more away fans visiting Wincham park next season as well, with FC United, Nantwich and other teams with better support joining the league.
I genuinely believe that the Unibond Prem will be a more exciting league next year than the BSN. That statement is not made based on sour grapes of not going up (I wanted that as much as everyone else). The quality of the football next season will be higher again and the crowd levels should increase, which can only be good news. There will be some good teams in the league next year, but Nige is more than capable of getting us to compete. He has made some very good signings so far and will add to this as we go.
Personally I fancy finishing 5th, 20 points behind FCUM in second place and then going up via the play-offs!
Just to complete the dream, the returning Mike Moseley scores the winner with an injury time screamer from 30 yards! (Pritch incidentally has to play the last 30 minutes in goal and saves a penalty with the score at 1-1)!!!
For me mid table will do nicely. Anything above that is a real bonus. Teams take a while to evolve and we have a decent nucleus already but they must be given time and encouragement and the fans will need to be patient. We have a proper Wittoner in charge and he will do a good job for us but it may take a while. As far as I am concerned Nigel can be manager for as long as he wants no matter what the results. We have seen what those who don’t care about the club get up to. I would also like to see local young players given a chance wherever possible. We cant buy the title but we can get a decent team together if we have the right set-up.
